Wow, didn’t even give that a second thought. Guess I will now.

Matte black on those? Edit: hope so because that’s what I just ordered lol!

I chose gloss black to match the rest of that mini-grille, but matte won't look half bad either.

Great work ... I love the car and the documentation. My wallet isn't going to like the ideas it has put in my head though.

Thanks James. This isn’t a cheap hobby by any stretch.

I have had a few silver cars. Always liked the sliver with black accent look.

So the Whipple 2.9 is back from Kong and back on the car. I won’t be doing any other horsepower mods, so I should be able to compare the car with the blower ported vs last years unported numbers. While I’m adding an Interchiller soon, that’s really more for consistency between pulls (and quarter mile runs). I was definitely surprised at how much Kong pulled out of this blower! He thought it would be worth 50-60 WHP on a build like mine…guess we’ll see!

LOL!!! I just asked about this yesterday, in another thread.

That's pretty cool!!! And hopefully makes it cool'er.

May I ask (without sounding suggestive or ANYTHING like that, but does Kong ever make statements about longevity after he max's the blower out? Obviously - he takes a lot of meat-out around all the spin'y bits, so I have to ask is there enough meat left that the rotors and bearings aren't moving around?

I've heard at least one other shop make the statement that when they let all the steam out of these ported blowers that they're just not going to last as long, but is that just an un-said statement everyone that gets this service done just knows? I know if you spin it faster, of course there's lots more to wear out and all that, but I'm taking about cracking around the bearing supports, or the supports moving and allowing the rotors to move around.

Sorry - I'm not trying to sound like a downer or anything.

Looking forward to more dyno'ing and you getting to 1000.

My uneducated opinion is that this must reduce longevity, otherwise Whipple and Magnuson would be knowingly throwing money away by overspec'ing their supercharger internals.

Sometimes, especially with cast components, things are left "good enough" in the name of optimizing for mass production. Even some of the nicest aftermarket heads I've seen end up on porting benches all over the country to squeeze a few extra HP out of them.

It’s entirely possible it could affect long term reliability. But given that the car comes apart every 2,000 miles anyway, I’m not worried about it and I’d rather have the extra power.

It would have already been installed if Whipple got their act together! I figured the Kong port on my 2.9 was the consolation prize for this year.
