The guy (can't remember his name) said this weekend would be big for Camaro, so we may see both the Z/28 and GT4.R.

Can't recall who suggested it but I'm starting to like the idea of it just being a "Z07" package for the new ZL1...

If that's the case, it better not be called Z/28.

The Z/28 has to be faster around a track, not necessarily faster in a straight line. Then again, it could be a ZL1 with carbon brakes, upgraded suspension and weight reduction. With all the speculation about a new engine, that would throw a major curve ball.

Guess I don't see the point of an FI z28.

If this thing is supercharged ill be extremely disappointed.

They should be putting in a massaged lt1 or god willing a 7.0 lt7. Much else happens ill be let down.
The dohc lt5 wont fit.

My #1 question is whether or not this new variant or model will have an A10 option.

I think it's already a forgone conclusion the A10 out performs the M6 in most areas so it would have to be in the mix here.

The only area that matters for the Z/28 is the track and I don't think it's a forgone conclusion on the track.

Well.. Chevy just made an announcement at Daytona.

Jeff Gordon will drive silver ZL1 (A10) pace car for the Daytona 500.

I kinda agree. I think on tracks with longer straights that the A10 may have an advantage but on the tracks I would run down here in Florida (Sebring, WPB, Daytona), I am not sure an A10 would outperform the M6. These tracks are tight, twisting tracks and I could see the A10 struggling to keep the car in the optimal performance range. On auto-x courses, I think the M6 would have a significant advantage over the A10. I say this never driving the A10 and it is pure speculation but the MotorTrend article on the ZL1 leads me to believe the M6 is better suited for smaller, tighter tracks while the A10 really shines on the bigger, more expansive tracks where the A10 can stretch its legs if you will.

Just a note, I have a couple of buddies that have GT3's and they told me to look at what happened to Porsche. Porsche decided to eliminate the manual tranny due to the superior performance of the PDK in their track focused GT3. The Porsche faithful were not thrilled but figured that Porsche knew what they were doing. Well, after two years of declining sales and the new PDK equipped GT3s not fairing as well on smaller tracks Porsche decided to bring back the manual tranny for their track beast. I hope GM was watching because there is a place for a manual tranny in a track focused car.

Randy Pobst actually ran faster in the auto except it was unofficial (off the PDR). On the ring the A10 hit 188 on the long straight, not sure if the manual will even hit that speed.

They ran a faster time after changing some stuff on the car. Either the A10 and M6 were set up the same for the first run, or they weren't, yet no one said which was the case.

I think the only change was tire pressure.

Even if it was just tire pressure, did they do the same to the M6? Could it have run even faster if they did? We don't know the answers.
