If they make it basically the same as the Colorado ZR2, it will have the suspension chops to take on the Raptor, which will put it in front of the Tremor, but just won't have the firepower. That's not all bad.

I think this will be the "poor" man's Raptor. It will not approach TRX/Raptor"R" levels of absurdity and associated cost at launch. Think Colorado ZR2 formula with a 6.2L V8.

Basically slotting right inbetween. Could be a sweet spot in the off road truck market

Honestly I think that approach is worlds more practical.

And if they offer the diesel, I bet the take rate would be higher than all other trims given the truck's mission.

Yep...It needs the 6.2 or the diesel. People love their Colorado ZR2s. I think the Silverado ZR2 could also be popular. Why it wasn't done 2 or 3 years ago is beyond me.

The issue is price. The ZR2 Colorado fit into a niche that wasn’t filled. Z71 to ZR2 is about $6 on the Chevy site. A 6.2 LT Trail Boss is 55k. Let’s say the price change is the same. That puts the Silverado ZR2 at 61k, at the minimum. Raptor MSRP is 64k, right now. The Silverado ZR2 is being brought into a market that’s been dominated by the Raptor for a long time now. It’s not the same situation. Those extra 3-4K get you a lot with the Raptor. Chevy better have something big to get people to not just go with the Raptor.

I think there's more room than that in reality. I don't know if anyone actually finds a Raptor for 64K. I still think Chevy is going for the value proposition. It'll be a well sorted/engineered chassis with no new powertrain options.

I'd like to have a Silverado but they are just so ugly.
If the refresh doesn't correct it I may go with Colorado/Canyon. Camaro and a Malibu don't cut it when you buy a house. Or a last gen Denali. Last edited by BluinSC; 08-28-2021 at 07:20 PM. |

Looks like the 3.0 diesel is not available due to supply shortage. Dang that sucks.
