General Motors clarifies its position on ICE / EV transition...
"We intend to win wherever we're competing and irrespective of propulsion system," GM North America chief Steve Carlisle said in an interview. "At the same time, we're setting ourselves up for this pivot, which is inevitable." GM believes EVs are the future, Carlisle said, but it won't let the business suffer if market demand for them veers from the automaker's timeline. "We're all-in, but we need other people to join us," he said. Publicly stating such a target "helps accelerate the conversation and get us focused," Carlisle told Automotive News last week. "People want to know what we stand for and what we're going to do." "We're going to do everything we can possibly do to make that future come true," Carlisle added. "There's a bit of leading the horse to water." Even with an electric pickup in the mix, Carlisle said GM will continue to invest in gasoline-powered vehicles for "as long as it makes sense." "It's part of the balance," Carlisle said. "We've got to provide the consumers what they want when they want it and at the same time give a different, compelling view of the future." Readers Digest version... If buyers continue to buy Silverado and Sierra with small block V8s in enough numbers, GM will continue to make them. They'll also have an EV for anybody who wants one and eventually, they expect the latter to outnumber the former.

My translation was, we are going to force this to be "responsible" as a company, if people don't want them even though that should be the driver for what we do as a business, we'll still have a high margin full size truck available for you so we don't go bankrupt again.

Automotive News reporting the current ICE-powered Cadillacs will likely be the last.

And curious about the current count of those two thirds...Bolt, one or two? Hummer, one, two or three plus?...etc...Where does the count currently stand? Are the option packages considered a separate EV as with the Hummer? or are they grouped together as a count of one?... Bolt EV and EUV...Cadillac Lyriq and Celestiq, Hummer truck and Suv...(that makes six or is it more?)....The delivery vans??? Others? Is anyone keeping track of the count? or is it a non-issue? |

I saw that test build Z06s were heading down the line soon. Any chance that may be true?
