you’re right about race mode, I wanted to switch already. The reason I still stayed is because with the Cup2 tires I’m running, you can easily drift the car with throttle mid corner. But you might be right that on the exits it’s still limiting without me really noticing. You ran Cup2s before too right? What was your experience? |

A bit better now that I know how to manage their temps. The problem is that my front tires are the rear compound for the M4 (that’s the only type you can get in that size in Germany). That compound is pretty soft and therefore you really need to bring them up to temps slowly and release pressure after warming them. (Obviously that’s the method in general but theses tires demand it a lot)
in terms of pace and feel they’re doing good, but in terms of wear I definitely prefer the G3 stockers. The fronts last about half as long as G3s. (I always get them used on eBay until my G3s arrive, that way it’s manageable) |

As far as PTM - i think since both sport2 and race dont have Stabilitrak assist youre pretty much on your own with both of these until you apply throttle at or after mid corner as there is no automated yaw control except on the exit thru TC. So there should be no difference how the car feels until that point. Cheers! Edit: having re-read my own post on PTM modes...per GM engineer Sport2 might be preferred for older tires. But frankly i think the car is superbly balanced regardless and communicates slip angles very predictably even on worn tires giving plenty of feedback for corrections. Just imo of course. |

About the ptm and balance I should rephrase a bit. So the balance and performance of this Cup2 mix is still really good! The only issue is wear of the fronts due to temps but with 3 degrees of camber that got a bit better. Still you can get little spots on the shoulders where more material comes off than it should with linear wear. The weird thing with this setup and ptm is that it appears it’s not really doing anything. With G3s I really wanted to change the ptm to race/off for this season as I could feel (and hear) the system limiting exit throttle. With the current setup the point of grip loss/drifting comes before the ptm noticeably kicks in anyway. Which is totally fine but no real motivation to move up.. so since it’s not so necessary anymore (got 7 track days total and some confidence now) I’ll try race and off next time and see if the assumption is true. Your ptm thread is really helpful btw, read that right away back then

Well priced too, 320 bucks for open pitlane and food all day + time keeping and 1 instructor session is a great deal. Will be back next year for sure ![]() Your videos look great as well, those hanging speedway curves must be tons of fun too! You hardly get those around here. |

Breaking in my 1LE the right way! I've been to several more events since, but this was the debute of my new mistress. Loving her more and more every event. This car is absolutely astounding for a true "showroom stock" vehicle! Well done GM.. Well done indeed.

Not my video, but this guy was haulin'! He ran a 1:35.79 with square 285/30/20 (on OEM 1LE wheels)! I'm not sure if he's on the forum, though. It's Brian from JST.

Wow that was a flying lap! That makes my 1:42 (with traffic) from a couple weeks ago look like child's play haha 110mph through turn 12 and almost 115mph in the Esses is really moving, and those no lift shifts definitely helped too. That was pretty impressive.
