yea the tested car had the $2k California Edition package.

And the base MSRP quoted for the Mustang is definitely way off.

The Camaro is a premium car in many rights. It boast a much more modern set-up than the Mustang. And tho I certainly have no problem with the Stang using more archaic designs in its execution.. since they are as effective against the competition as the Vette's Leaf-Spring set up is against it's competitors... the Camaro is simply a better ride.

Are you an engineer? How do you know this? The aftermarket has nearly nothing so far for this car just like with the Camaro for a short while. I'm sure given a year there will be plenty of "affordable" upgrades for the 5.0, its a brand new engine it JUST came out.
I'm technically an engineer.. but in a different industry. IT and Computer Technologies are my thing. I stated in my post that "FROM WHAT I HEAR" Ford maxed out AFFORDABLE upgrades to the Mustang's 5.0L...

Also.. I don't kno if anyone else saw this.. but once again they are comparing a 2010 SS to the Brand new GT.. and Chevy could surprise us again

Overall god the fanboyism is strong in this thread. People gotta learn to be humble and realize while yes it may be a tad bit faster in the grand scheme it doesn't mean every stoplight race the Mustang will beat the Camaro. In the end the Camaro IMO has better style, better looks, better engine (more low down torque), and driven right won't be seeing the Mustang's taillights.

LOL.. Dude U are on a GM biased site, that is geared and NAMED after the CAMARO... and U expected less. I would expect the exact same at the Mustang Forum

The california special is 2k, with the sync system and who knows what other options on that mustang, price can easily get up that high, go to the ford website and build one and max out all the options and see how high the price can get for a gt

The GT Premium with California Package is $35,690. Add the 3.73 gears for $395 to get $36,085. The car may have also came with the $1995 glass roof to make the total $38,080

I totally overlooked the fact that it was a premium.

No wonder I thought the base price was way off.

Their numbers don't add up. I think they aren't listing all the options the car had.

Because they definitely don't list the car as having the 3.73 gear option.

What makes the Camaro an overall "premium" car vs a Mustang... Its the same class of cars theres nothing premium about it. The rearend setup is more modern, thats about it. Both carry similar grade engine technology, and heck you can get the Mustang with a touch screen and voice recognition technology that the Camaro doesn't have. You talk like the Mustang still has a Carbureator and bias ply tires.

Chevy has already announced the 2011 Camaro, no change other than the HUD, V6 HP and Synergy green SS availability. From what you hear is hearsay, there are no concrete facts to back this up.

I expect people to be a bit rational in their comparison and pay attention to the FACTS instead of sticking on technicalities. I expect people to act like adults and avoid the "its better because.... it just is" arguement.

It was called out that the Mustang would have been quicker with the 3.73 and the outcome would have been different to which I stated that if you went back to an apples-to-apples comparison by installing a 3.73 in the Camaro, you would wind up in the same outcome.

Not sure how/why that became so convoluted....
3.45 gears for a car that peaks at 5900rpm (LS3) is still more aggressive than 3.73's on a car that peaks at 6500rpm (5.0). To match the LS3's gearing advantage theeoretically the 5.0 would need something like 3.80 gears.

you only hear that from fanboys though so no need to parrott that false info. The 440hp SMS mustang proves that a couple boltons like pullies and catback add 30hp. The 5.0 MIGHT or MIGHT NOT have the same overall potential (N/A) as the 6.2 LS3 but its by no means "maxxed out" from the factory.
