saying "I have a C8" just saves time if you're talking to anyone who knows cars. they'll know you have the newest gen vette.

same with AMG owners w204, w212, etc. zr1, zl1, z51 are just packages the platform is either camaro or corvette which is the name and I doubt any of that impacts sales
The BMW and 911 folks are the worst at this. They only refer to their cars as the gen name. I'm a car enthusiast and when someone says "E39 M5" or "E46 M3" I always have to ask them the year, or look it up. Why can't they just say 2000 M5 or 2005 M3? It comes across as pretentious to me. If I was an M3 or M4 owner, sure, use the gen name because I would probably know it. I don't tell people I have an "Alpha ZL1". If I'm speaking to a regular person (non car enthusiast) I say I have a '21 Camaro ZL1, or possibly 6th gen Camaro ZL1 if I'm speaking to a muscle car enthusiast.
