oldman: keeps the Germans away. :-)

Crossed 1000 miles with a data log of near 6900 rpm and 9.5 psi. Pulls quite nicely in third! Still tuning thanks to Jannetty.

We're getting there! Flywheel has now been replaced and back on the ground...waiting for the salt to disappear. Then back to the dyno!

2200 miles on the combination. Will install new plugs prior to Friday's dyno visit.

If all goes well, Nurburgring opens on 16 Mar and we have a track day reserved at SPA on 25 Mar (hope for no snow in Belgium!)

Plugs installed...driver's side takes 20 mins...passenger side takes 2 hours...thanks to dropping the plug socket - Ack!

Bit of oil on #7 threads...otherwise looks a ok.

Also heard a phantom tap on odd side of the engine...so pulled the valve cover and rockers for a look see:

Nothing out of the ordinary - all Ti lash caps present, no broken springs, rocker arm tips are like new, etc.

Will gather the kit for tomorrow's visit to the heart breaker. Temps are warmer than before (55 degrees) otherwise a constant.

Gave it a wash (cleaner cars are faster!) and dropped by the engine shop that assisted us in this adventure - ABD Racing:

He was genuinely happy we showed him the final product...always wonder how many projects are completed when they reach a 'machine shop' state. I try to pay it forward a bit for the next guy...not many folks will open up their knowledge and behind the desk to show a 15-17 year old how things work - very nice German.

Dyno visit was successful! The stars aligned, dyno was operational (mostly) and the tuner (Mr Ted Jannetty) was online to tweak after each run.

Strapped down and prepped:

We did 6 runs and 4 'flashes' of the ECU...gaining just shy of 50 CHP for a grand total of 700 crank horsepower. Dyno sheet between untuned WOT and yesterday's best run:

Pleased with the output. The dyno was acting up with a cooling fan failure and anomalies appearing in the curves. Ted was confident the engine was not to blame and enough runs were made to ensure a smooth power curve. The torque number is inaccurate due to the spike. I have no idea what 966 NM is anyway...!

I will say on the way home-4th gear it really pulls nicely to the 7000 rpm limiter (150 mph)...

May be tested on the Nurburgring tomorrow (opening weekend for the season!).

It was a pleasure working with you great gains, she is dialed in.

A slight update...true test of machine...autobahn. Attained just short of the goal...196 MPH. Few issues to resolve, but it is close!

Well, the chilly temps and salty roads have arrived so the Camaro goes down for the winter. I was unable to get another run in so 196 mph stands for the year. We'll try again next spring...

Engine is healthy and covered 9,170 miles since first start - pretty proud of that and a testament to Texas Speed's kits and quality Callies, K1, Wiseco parts. No oil consumption of significance on track or after a ~25-hour road trip to UK. Rev limit of 7100 rpm was set by the tuner and due to my poor skills, run into it more than a few times - sounds good up there!

This winter we've considered inspecting our work as well as improving the efficiency of the LT4 blower setup with a few minor upgrades. Realizing the blower and OEM exhaust manifolds/cat are limiting factors to the combination:

- X-port LT4 blower (Kong / OEM pulleys)
- CNC ported LT1 heads (Katech)
- Porting the OEM exhaust manifolds (SoCal Porting)

We'd plan to replace the valve springs as well along with a retune. May also look to modifying the driver's side cat pipe section to increase the throat size as has been done by others on this forum. Seems comically small to support ~350 CHP.

Moving the power higher in the rpm range with typical loss at low-end, would be preferred.

The fun has begun...

Off with the blower:

Love those machining lines:

Boxed and shipped to Kong for the X port:

Can't believe this car is available with one of these from the factory - adding ~200 CHP. Amazing times, we live in.

The Kong box arrived - think that was the 5th time I've used it - good investment with no damage yet!

The plate:

The internals:

Supposedly a good HP increase, but will let the dyno and autobahn decide. *Even if the power curve is moved to the right, it will be a success for my application.

Working on removing the exhaust manifolds for rework...

Exhaust manifolds were worked over...by SoCal Porting...attempting to make the most we have:

Combined with the X-port...hopefully see a bump in power, ideally at the top of the rev range.
