Just to piggy back with what you've already said Z, I also had mine tuned about a month or two ago, night and day difference from what the car was stock. Worth every penny IMO. Can also throw the car in manual mode and shift to the gear I want mash the throttle and don't have to worry about throwing the transmission back in Drive it will still shift. They somehow bypassed that in the TCM.

Oh yea, I forgot they tuned mine to do the same, auto upshift at redline even in manual mode.

The Toyos are supposed to be pretty good, too, right? That was my understanding, though I've seen many people here use the Nittos with great success. I'll probably give those a try after these F1s go bye bye.

Would you care to comment if you've noticed any higher tranny temps with the converter being unlocked more? I know these are small, compare to the 4L60s and stuff, but I'm more concerned with heat than anything. I don't mind a harder hit on lock-up in lower gears as long as there is a benefit. I don't want to beat-up the driveline more than the benefit of doing it.

Yea, the R888R is fantastic as long as you don't mind the noise. They do cost more than 555R2 also and honestly don't really hook up any better. So you're paying more for a tire that's much louder and doesn't get any better traction. The only reason to go with the R888R is if you're into road coursing your car too since they will have better handling capability than the 555R2. Both aren't great in the rain but not as bad as the Sport Cup 2 R or the Supercar 3 R.

I have not checked my trans temps since changing the lockup to 6th gear instead of 4th. I did ask Elite Tuned specifically if there's any risk and they said I might see a slight decrease in gas mileage and slight increase in trans temps. I asked if it was really something I should be concerned about and was told no. I saw in an older post that KingLT1 also raised his lock up as well to a higher gear and said the 10L90 was robust enough that it wouldn't matter. I did manage to get a drive log last night but I haven't gone through the data yet for comparison. I'll check it this evening and report back. I am so far MUCH happier with it locking up in 6th gear though instead of 4th gear. It was always noticeable to me when it locked up in 4th gear but I don't even notice it now in 6th.

Sounds great.

It doesn't seem like I was too far off in my theory, but it'll be nice to see any confirmation. Heat is the only concern for me. Mileage doesn't especially on E'.

Thanks for the confirmation on tires, too. It'll be interesting to see how well the 555R2s stand-up on the street. Even after cleaning the ET Street SSs, I was still spinning the tires, starting 4th Gear, around 2000 RPMs. It wasn't much into a hit that the tires just started spinning, even in 80+ degrees ambient. Cooler temps' were worse.

Yes please report back on the new tires, I'd like to switch to those at some point without going to a full drag setup.

Oh shoot. I didn't realize TC lockup on these was in 4th. I always thought it was in 6th. I really need to get on unlocking and tuning mine.

You should be able to feel it at part throttle, it feels like an extra shift right before 4th gear so it feels like two quick shifts back to back which is a little annoying.

Checked my logs and there was a 2F increase in trans fluid temp with the converter locking up in 6th gear vs 4th, 149F vs 147F, but the ambient temp was also higher 95F v 91F so that may have played a part too. Overall the increase in trans fluid temps appear to be negligible. Both of these logs were 20 minutes of city driving.

INTERESTING...

First - Thank You for taking the time to do all of that. That's super helpful.

I'm sure the TCs are a lot more efficient than the 4L60s I'm used to. I know the tranny is, overall. It sounds like it's no big deal, as far as I was concerned, and the way I use and drive the car, probably wouldn't hardly impact me any more than you.

Thanks again for sharing!!!
