I have a 2021 SS 1LE M6 being shipped and hope the PBC motors didn’t use the faulty valve springs. Hopefully they put some performance valve springs in the motor. The car build date is 9/20.

If you get a mirror and look at the back of the left cylinder head up against the firewall, you will see the trace sticker for the engine. If the Serial # is a '3', it's a Performance Build Center (PBC) built engine.

Crappy pic I linked off of eBay, but that LT4 was a 'T' as an example. I know the subject was really on LT1's.

Add another one to the list . 2020 2SS 1LE M6, i have an engine cover plaque too, car buit date on door jamb is 07/20.

Appears to be only M6 cars built since Jan 2020. Not sure if it is ALL M6 cars though. No automatics have been reported with the PBC sticker. Makes me wonder if there is something different about an LT1 paired with an M6 vs auto that would dictate the PBC build? Aren't the LT2s in the C8 also being built in Tonawanda now? Curious why these LT1s are built in Bowling Green. Doesn't seem like a capacity issue if PBC is building as many C8s as they can.

I didnt think this applied to 2021 A10's. I wonder why only M6 cars? What would be the reasoning for that? I love a good mystery....lol. I might have to look at mine this weekend just in case.......

UPDATE—- No engine plaque on mine

As noted, mine was built in 2019 and I do not have a plaque. My understanding was these engines were not purpose built there for the Camaro, but were excess NOT used for the Corvette, so the Camaros got the leftovers.
That would suggest only so many and only within a certain period of time, never to happen again.

The M6 vs A10 is interesting, perhaps we just don't know of any A10s yet? Interesting just the same.

Interesting. What about the fuel line? On Camaros the fuel line on the LT1 is routed over the engine cover intake manifold. On the Corvettes it’s routes underneath/behind it to have a cleaner engine presentation. Do these leftovers have the fuel line rerouted?

Another LT1 with an M6 here with the PBC plague. White vert built 8/20 ordered by the dealer in Acworth Ga. At least that's what the salesmen told me.

I'm thinking fuel lines would be at vehicle assembly not engine assembly, the engine out of the plant would not have that on at all. Anyone???

I thought I read or had seen that the M6 engines had the AFM hardware (lifters) but could not be activated do to no software. (BUT) I agree with your thinking, since these are hand built these engines they may have different lifters. It would be nice to find out.

It would be nice but I highly doubt that these engines do not have the afm lifters. It’s all about uniformity and cost, mainly cost. I have not to date heard of anyone disassembling a PBC tagged engine to confirm this.

Another curiosity question that comes to mind is do any of the dealer ships know about the PBC tagged engines and if so did any try to mark up the car because of it?

My dealer ship did not know anything about it.
