Not at all the point .What people want to know is the actual top speed of the car obviously on a level surface. The rest is all bullshit and has zero value. At the end of the day it s how fast can it go in a straight line . Dont go too deep trying to over analyze it

All of these will affect top speed in a given situation. Knowing the A10 won't redline in the top gear (or likely even the 8th or 9th) at any practically attainable speed is relevant to thinking people. You have discarded that information out of hand as irrelevant to the question of top speed.
The theoretical top speed of an A10 ZL1 in 10th gear is irrelevant because it will never be able to get there. When someone asks "what's the top speed of the car", they are asking about what it will actually attain, which is officially 198 mph, a two-way avg (194 mph one way, 202 mph the other) to eliminate the wind factor. They aren't wondering "what is the gear limited theoretical top speed in a vacuum".

Now if you're talking about optimizing the top speed in an M6 ZL1, then we would need to start getting into gear ratios and such.

If you hit a limiter (if one even actually exists in the coupe), you'll know. Been there and done that: The ECM cuts throttle and you get a dashboard message. The throttle cut isn't as harsh as it is if you bounce off the redline in a lower gear, but it will get your attention.

Yes, it's much easier to hit the limiter (155mph) in the vert. But with the top down it's quite the rush!

There is no limiter. I can hit 190 in 7th gear.

I went 194 indicated, stock car, A-10, race gas booster, slightly uphill, at 5400 ft altitude. I did, however, have about 6 miles of road.

So how did the ZL1 feel at that speed?

I have gone 197 in my slightly modified Z06 Corvette and it was glued to the road!

It felt pretty darn planted. No concerns, other than the obvious ones of driving flat out on a public road, in Mexico, of course.

I seem to recall Hennessey doing 220 in a CTSV years ago

Yes, a stock ZL1 has a limiter, for a coupe it's set at 206. Your car is tuned, so yours might have been changed. Below is a screenshot of maximum allowed vehicle speed from a stock ZL1.

I’m Talking about below 200 mph. Your never going to Hit 206mph in a stock zl1 unless you have a tailwind and a dozen miles.

It’s a moot point.
