OMG- Why do you drive in M ?...Its an automatic, put it in DRIVE and let the trans shift for u.

The LT1 does have an off throttle momentary lag. But expecting the car to accelerate like a raped ape when doing 60 mph in 6th?

Go back and take lessons on how to drive....

And I am sorry You have an SS.... Cause your a dufus....

My honest thoughts on this pathetic car (sorry to other SS owners)

Someone please educate me on the speed and gear thing, and why it does pull, and doesn’t pull, I want to learn how to pull properly and make it most effective, and consistently.
And to pass cars more consistently as well, or even during a roll race.

Most times you'll want to be at least in the 4000 RPM range when you are in manual mode, but considering the shift lag when you are in manual mode most people don't touch it when doing a pull. My suggestion is to keep the car in automatic mode, when you get 1/4 of the throttle down the car's transmission will drop to the proper gear and will start you in the proper RPM range for the maximum power to be used at that time.

I was at the 4K rpm range, but I was in M6 and M7... at 60mph, the guy told me that was the problem.

So had a “professional” drive the car, and he actually was a hell of a driver.
Took me around for ridiculous pulls, he was demonstrating everything, when he drove it, hd drove it perfectly with no problems, he didn’t even experience any of the lag issues. He did however show me what I WAS DOING WRONG!

I cruise in M mode in 6th gear at 50 mph, he floored it, NO PULL or POWER at all, he then dropped all the way to 2nd gear at the same 50mph, and it pulled like a mad dog. I never knew about this, he also told me that I shift a lot earlier before redline too many times to the point where I’m at 5-7th gear at 40 or less, which was another thing. I was inexperienced over it, he then explained to me about the lag in flooring it in Automatic mode, when flooring in automatic, the brief moment before it pulls, the ECU is downshifting to the lowest gear then pulling, he said it’s normal for automatic mode to have a brief delay before pulling when flooring. He also stated that when in automatic mode, you can press the downshift once, then hold it again and the car will AUTOMATICALLY drop to the lowest gear, he then floored it and it pulled! I didn’t know about the gear and speed thing. After all this, there’s still one last thing... there’s a “dead zone” when slightly hitting the accelerator in automatic mode.

That would explain everything. Atleast now you know and it's a lesson learned :P I did this too by accident before. I forgot I was in 7M and tried flooring it and it just wouldn't move. Then I realized a few seconds later it was in over drive.

Now it's time to enjoy the real performance of the car

Doesn't sound right. 4k RPM in 6th gear would equate to well over 60MPH.

Considering your inexperience I would NOT suggest toying around on the roads. These cars are very easy to get yourself into trouble with and not to mention dangerous. Quite honestly I would say stay in automatic mode at all times. Observe what it does in automatic and count your gears. Considering you're younger than me and I'm pretty young as it is, I'm surprised you haven't played a racing game before like Forza or Gran Turismo. I already had the idea of racing a car before I even became a teenager :P

You are very right, I do have much more to learn... sooo.... does this explain why when I press upshift a lot; it says “shift denied” very often....
