My car is not going to be a track or strip only car so drivability does enter into the upgrade equation. The 258mm sized converter is the Circle D #6-24-13-35 offering (which also happens to be the variant used by Lethal Camaro) per advert at https://www.phastekperformance.com/C...6-24-13-05.htmI will just make it easy on myself as you suggest and talk to the experts at Circle D and feed them the necessary parameters they need to make a recommendation. I will probably also ask the senior techs at JPC what they think. Who knows maybe they will agree.....which would give me a solid warm-fuzzy feeling.

Well apparently my car is a magnet for bad drivers. Someone hit my car on the way home from work in rush hour in the left rear quarter panel. I just got the car back 1 week before after getting all of the body work repaired from the last snafu..
on a positive note; I took advantage of the circle d black friday sale and ordered a 258mm stall for the car. I will install it as soon as it arrives! ![]()

So i've been pretty busy on procuring parts. as of now the plans are adding port fuel injection with a built motor. the engine build will be studs, pistons & rods and a healthy camshaft. i'll have the cylinder heads cnc ported by a friend for some flow improvements.
i have the main studs torqued and will drop the block off to have the mains lined honed, quick hone & cleaned ![]()

So like every project; made some changes to the plans. I decided to gauge and do most of the cylinder block work myself. I bought a nice .0005 bore indicator along with a ball hone tool.
I got the heads back and the cnc port job looks terrific. After i lap the valves i should have them put back together in a day. the cylinder block gets washed tomorrow and i will start gapping the rings and checking the crankshaft clearance in the block as for the fuel supply, i'll be using an A1000 drawing from a 10 micron filter which will connect to a sump style feed/return block. the intake manifold and injectors was straight duplicated from our friend Parish8's pioneering. ![]() grab a napkin to catch the drewl from the pix below: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

rotating assembly is installed in the block and all the clearances/tolerances look pretty good. I installed some of the oil/water plugs into the block and now have to wait for the lifter trays & camshaft to continue.
While waiting for the parts, i will continue to finish the fuel system plumbing and test for leaks. ![]()

just waiting for the camshaft to arrive on wednesday to finish putting this new motor together. in other news; the motor was picked this morning.
I also ordered bmr engine mounts so the turbo oil drainback hoses have more clearance. Before they were touching the right hand exhaust downpipe. ![]()

Soooo.... Like every project... I have ran into a little problem. The camshaft wouldn't slide into the block like it should have. The bearing on journal #1 is too tight on the camshaft. i removed it and ordered another from the local stealership. Hopefully tomorrow it will slide in with no issues. According to the dealer and brian tooley racing; I have the correct bearing parts numbers and they are installed in the correct journals. phew..
After I removed the #1 bearing; the camshaft slid into the rest of them without any trouble. I am crossing my fingers that bearing I had just happened to be a dud. I am taking my sweet old time and finding missing parts in the process anyways.. the cylinder head alignment dowels are missing and various bolts for the front/rear covers are missing too.. slowly but surely the motor will come together lol Here's a little pic for you folks. I wouldn't normally do this kind of picture but since the bearing was so tight, I had to snap a pic. Also never-mind that I didn't put the engine assm. lube on the camshaft yet ![]()

I got the converter installed yesterday and the head bolt threads chased today. I think I'm making pretty good progress. Now i'm just waiting for the push-rods.
Also got the oil pan cleaned and checked the pickup tube screen. there was 1 large aluminum chunk from when i drilled and tapped the pan for the oil return lines; other than that; looked beautiful. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

This thing ought to fly! Awesome build!
What kind of increase do you think you will see with the new engine over the stock one?

Looking good. Was just there doing that last fall. Didn't have the cam bearing journal issue you did. Good luck and maybe you'll have it ready for spring.
