Motortrend will almost undoubtedly have a shootout of the two vehicles and may even throw a GT-R in there just for the hell of it. We'll know soon enough how well the ZL1 stacks up. Can't wait. Last edited by snackbar64; 12-09-2016 at 10:13 AM. |

Don't remember reading about an unprepared surface. All of their cars of similar "genre" typically go through the same sort of testing. clutch dumps, 24-hour track test, etc...I don't think I read anywhere that the car did not undergo drag strip testing.

*ZL1 performance numbers achieved with a coupe equipped with the available 10-speed automatic transmission and using original-equipment tires on a non-prepped surface.
http://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/...08-camaro.html For the fifth gen they also ran it on DRs to make sure it worked with them and they released a video, haven't seen that for the 6th gen.

What's a prepped surface worth in a quarter mile run?

Not sure but it makes you wonder what they might be holding back.

It may be to the benefit of the ZL1 (in a vs. HC scenario) to go on an unprepped surface...seeing how the ZL1 is lighter and less powerful than HC., but folks who have expertise may have more concrete opinions. |

The reality is that the bigger difference should be seen at the road course with it's improved shifting programming.

On top of all that, the LT4 does not love RPM's, so the little drop between gear changes isn't as advantageous as it could be.
