Thats exactly what i was thinking! Where does the OP get off chastising GM for something OEM's simply dont do? When i first saw the subject and then saw how many pages the thread was i had to open to find out how it was possible...now i know!

I just don't think it's fair or accurate to evaluate intelligence on the basis of what someone drives. There's a lot of intelligent and wealthy people who drive junky cars. I think wealth has more to do with what you drive and not intelligence. I myself drive a slow crappy 2015 Ford Focus ST and don't think I should be judged as unintelligent due to my junky car. As for Smart Cars, there's one that I pass most days from work that has a license plate of "RDRACR". For some reason that makes me laugh but I don't necessarily think that person is stupid.

It's illegal in this state to have an unattended car running. I have no problem jumping into a hot car and rolling down the windows, or a cold car and keeping the windows up...and simply driving away. Never have. Never will. And I've driven countless times when it's 90'-100'+ and -30'.

I shudder at what some in this country deem important.

Yeah, BMWs have been like that for years. They’ve had the roll down the windows with the remote function since the late 90’s, but require you to use the key blade in the door to roll them back up on US cars. The Euro cars could always do it with the remote. Our technical training department told me (probably 15 years ago) that it was because people in this country are sue happy. Figured GM used the same logic.

Since 2009 my first BMW you could use the fob for opening and putting your finger on the door handle to close them.
