I posted this this over in the 5th gen forum also. The v6's in the 5th and 6th gen really do have plenty of power. I'm not trying to slam the v6, but if your wondering between the 6 and 8 this is my experience.

I bought my 15 1LS last June. About 3 months after I bought it I started wondering how much difference was there between the 6 and 8. I mean the 6 has 323 horses there can't be THAT much difference.

I just picked up a 16 1SS Friday. And the best way to describe the difference would be that ((I'm of course still in the break-in period. 170 miles as of now.)) The most I've pushed the pedal down is maybe half way, if that. I've only gone up to 4100 rpms and only done that in the first 2 gears. With just doing that I would ABSOLUTLY smoke my 15 1LS.

The way it pushes u back in the seat at even the slightest throttle pressure is amazing.

The ride is stiffer but still very comfortable. I was shocked really. I don't have mag ride so it's just the normal suspension.

I've read countless posts and threads on how different they are, but reading and actually feeling the difference is huge.

A smile just appears on ur face.

My plan is to pay off my V6 and continue using it as my daily driver. Then buy a V8 to mod for the track.

But I'm not Dr. Moneybags like some of you guys

I am on a retirement income that made a base model Camaro my only option. I am extremely happy with my car. The power of the V8 would be excellent, but I am really happy with the power of my V6. It runs just as good as a 4th Gen Z28. I just took it on a nice road trip. It was extremely comfortable on a 9 hour drive. I never got tired of driving this car. It was great fun in the mountains. On my income there is something to be said for using 87 octane gas and lower insurance rates too.

I went from a 2012 Mustang GT to my 2LT V6. Honestly, all I miss is the sound.

I just went with a V6 this weekend and I can honestly say the extra for the V8 was not worth it to me.

I went with a 2LT 3.6 V6. It has all the features I wanted and more.

My suggestion would be to save the money and use it for bolt ones.

My last car (2012) was a v6, I enjoyed it and got the 2016 V6. I have auto-x'd it and tracked it a few times. Beat my track times on 2 tracks by several secs with the 2016. quicker and handles better. I wish I could get the V8 or even the ZL1, just have too much overheard to swing such high payments.

bought a V6 cause I'm old and its PLENTY Fast.....got a 6 speed manual cause I hate all the new 6 and 8 speed autos. Too much gear hunting IMO.

The V6 makes 4th gen V8 power and build quality seems to have improved since my 96

I bought my 2LT v6 6speed 20" black rims and blackout emblems for $25,900 brand new 21 miles on it. a month ago.
That just $1000 more than my 96 Z28 Cost me to order new in 96.

If you can afford a V6, more than likely you can also afford a V8, you'll just need to wait a little longer save up some more for a larger down payment, that's really what it comes down to.

If you feel like you are settling when you get a V6, you might end up like me, who started with a 14 2LT V6, and regret your purchase shortly after, wishing you would have just waited and gotten the V8.

I don't mean to take anything away from the V6 tho, I test drove a 2016 V6 and thought it was pretty awesome, especially when compared to the 5th gen... but I couldn't shake away that nagging voice that kept telling me "shoulda had a v8".

All I can say is don't settle, or you will end up paying for it. If you know that a v6 will satisfy you, then hop on it!
