After reading all this I'm going to buy a Studebaker and move to a cabin on top of a mountain

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

Ha who would of thought your car would become an electronic eye..with your phone you can turn that off...is it unavoidable today? Most likely I saw a guy who took off from Virginia criminal type, get caught on a beach in Texas all because of static plate readers on the highway..I'm thinking need a complete tinfoil car cover or those rotating license plates like on speed racer..haha..wait was that someone on the roof??haha

It's a lot harder to hide a 2 ton chunk of metal in defining color for the world to see from the police and insurance company than it is to hide your smartphone.

Apple can know where you are and how fast you're going (unless you have GPS turned off which you can't do with OnStar unless you remove the fuse, unplug the antenna, or tear out the module ), but they don't know how you're going that fast or in what.
Can but they don't and never will without a court order.

GM uses the data they collect as a competitive advantage to make cars and trucks better. It's the biggest internal firewall I know off. I ran the group that measured customer usage for GM. You can get the data you just can't have it associated with a customer.

When I was insurance shopping GEICO quoted me the highest rates of anybody I checked with. Progressive came in second. State Farm was tied with AAA for the lowest price. AAA I would have bought into the motor club for another $50 so I stayed with state farm and pay $12 a year for their roadside assistance. I pay $560 every 6 months for both my Buick and my Camaro. That is full coverage on both with $500 deductable and maximum liability coverage.

The only way you can completely turn off the GPS on your phone is to pull the battery out. You can turn it partially off but law enforcement can still track it. Even if the phone is turned off. I have security software on my phone, and even with it turned off I can go online on my computer and locate it.

nanny software aside. Your phone isn't a nearly 2 ton piece of metal going down the highway at 60mph with you and probably a passenger in it. I'd like the option to not have a hackable device that is always connected to the internet simultaneously tied into every other system in the car.
