How about placing a cover over the dash vents? Something that can be removed quickly when you want to use the defroster vents.

I cut a piece of textured glass film to cover vents, I have pics, but when I post them using my laptop, they show rotated and very large, I'm new at this so excuse the results. When I figure out how to view and edit, I'll show more, I would like to see what I'm posting and edit it, but I can't seem to get things viewing, Sorry.

If this was a daily problem with me, I would get a different glass covering, so the reflection of sunlight would be gone, It did stop the windshield from fogging. It doesn't look good, but it works.

This is the messages I had with Chevrolet Customer Care about this windshield fogging issue. I had others also.
GM probably will not do anything, until someone gets killed, because vision blocked due to fog on windshield.

Yeah like I want the dealer tearing into my dash to experiment with different things to try to mask a problem caused by a design flaw.

The defroster vent simply does not close/seal as it should when in AC mode. Air flow should be coming through the front dash vents, not the defroster vent....

What you will end up with is a windshield that still fogs, a dash that likely has scratches/scuffs and rattles all to sh*t over bumps..

GM needs to re-engineer the defroster vent sealing/function. This is not a computer problem or a "firmware" problem.

And the GM customer care reps can't do sh*t, other then get points for the amount of referrals they hustle up on forums sent to dealers.

Out of the 20 or so cars that I have owned, this is the only one that has ever done this.

I've had my car for about 2 weeks and have had this issue every morning here in the St. Louis area. I have experimented with different settings on the A/C and so far nothing works. Below is a list of cars I have owned that never had this issue, it is not normal.

1992 Plymouth Sundance
1995 VW Jetta
2000 Camaro SS
2001 VW Golf
2008 Corvette
2009 Corvette
2012 Ford Focus
2012 GMC Acadia
2013 Cadillac SRX
2014 Ford Focus
2015 Jeep Cherokee

Here is a list of vehicles I have owned that have had this problem:

They really need to fix this issue. Definitely a driving hazard trying to keep the windshield clear.

Right up front I'm going to say that I don't disagree that this is a problem but...

I don't live in an area with this problem but sometimes you have to help yourselves. If you are concerned about your safety then take action to make yourselves safer. Hopefully Chevy will come up with a solution but be proactive. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

If it were me, I would be concerned to, but I would also find a way to prevent it. I might go find a dash mat to cover the vents or make my own.

It sure is annoying that a car this good is plagued with such a simple design oversight such as this. I had a 2013 Gen5 and it never happened, ever. It is normal for windows to fog up under certain weather conditions but it is not normal for your AC to constantly blow cold air on the windshield. It was like somebody had an idea to cool the windshield or something during normal operation but forgot about how condensation works. You would think there would be a simple vent built in the ductwork to divert all the cold air from the blower to your air vents and not leak some of it to the defrost vents.

I agree totally. Mine does this exact same thing. It is one of the most annoying things I've ever dealt with in a vehicle. Gm and my dealer called yesterday stating they are going to fix this problem next week when I drop it off.

I understand and have reservations of my own having my dash torn into but at this point I can't stand driving the car when it's hot out which is 50 weeks per year here in Florida .
