Does your dealer have brown eyes? Cause it sounds like he's full of shit.
Well, in my case they did a flash that supposedly fixed a bunch of "stuff" mine was doing like changing channels rapid fire, unresponsive, etc. Two weeks pass and it started doing it again and I took it back. They kept it a week, opened a TAC case with Chevy, and the engineer assigned to the case told them to disconnect the battery and that was required for the flash to be effective. I have no idea if they did it the first go-round or not, but Chevy would not authorize any further troubleshooting until this step was performed and I was called to come get the car.

I thought, and halfway still do think, it's BS but the problem hasn't come back. If it does I'll certainly update this thread. I typically work on my own junk and hate having to rely on a dealer for this type of stuff but with firmware etc, we don't have much choice. The software being open source doesn't give me warm fuzzies either.

I know what you're saying. If it was possible to have done the update myself, I would have. It's the only thing I've brought the car to the dealer for, simply because there was no other choice. Everything else I've done and will continue to do myself. They can keep their free oil changes.

My display stopped working this Sunday. I tried all remedies I read about with exception of battery disconnect. Reluctantly took it to dealer today. They upgraded the software and it seems to be working fine at this point. I will keep you all posted.

Me too. The battery disconnect worked for me.

After having my 2016 2SS for 9 days, the MyLink went completely black. Also, the USB ports wouldn't power my iphone and on-star was out.
Drove the car around for about 100 miles and audio would come on intermittently without the ability to change the volume or turn off the audio. On-star also works intermittently.

My brand new car has been at the dealer since July 14, ugh! They are telling me they need a new HMI (human machine interface). Apparently this module is made in China and the factory just suffered an earthquake. Also, apparently the module is VIN specific so they can't even pull one from another car to fix my issue.

I've opened a case with GM.

My dealer has been less than helpful. It is apparent that fixing my issue, or at least gathering info from the engineers has been a lower priority than selling cars. They are passing very little info to me.

NM lemon law states that iff the issue isn't fixed in 30 business days I can get a full refund. Well, that's about 6 weeks. Yay!

I love my car, but this is ridiculous. I'm frustrated with my dealer and frustrated with GM. At this point, I think i want a refund and to just get a truck or something!

Got an email for a survey of the 2SS about 2 weeks ago. I put down that I liked the car but dinged them on the issue with the MyLink.

Got a call from GM regarding this survey today. Lady at least pretended to be concerned and asked if all issues were resolved, then asked what happened. Explained to her the issue.

She read through the dealership tech notes on the repair and said they actually replaced the "human interface module" in the car according to the car's records. Interesting.

Coming up on week 6 and not another issue. I'm considering mine fixed, just posting this for follow up as I hate when people never come finish the story.

Good that GM reads the surveys as well.

HMI replacements seem to be happening a lot in threads like these.

Well, what was interesting to me, is that the dealer claimed they only disconnected the battery, no mention of a parts replacement.

My screen stopped turning on yesterday. After disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery, the screen started working again. That seems to be one solution. Has anyone had any issues with their screen issues after disconnecting the negative terminal? Just wondering if it's just a short term solution or not

I'm having issues with mylink as well, 5500 miles, stereo will make a loud squeeling noise after 10-15 minutes of driving then all sound audio stops to include blinker noise. then it will randomly come back to life for a couple mnutes here and there. I took to dealer and left it for two days and they said they rebooted and that it was fixed. Upon leaving dealership within 10 minutes it did the same as before and froze up with no sound. I'm upset that I will have to miss work again to drop off or pick up. If they would have simply read my notes that it shuts off within 10-15 minutes maybe they could have checked this again after they supposedly rebooted. frustrated.

This sounds like a communication issue between the display and the amplifier. Maybe the connection. Does not sound like software problem to me.

I used to think that but the display does some weird things from time to time as well, random channel change, or xm i.d. number suddenly displayed. Its at the dealer as we speak, I was told 2nd step now is possibly change out module....if they do I will not ever use my Bluetooth again, I have a feeling the Bluetooth is allowing my phone and my familys phones to deliver malicious software or virus....if that's even possible, I'm betting it is. So I will use the aux cord once fixed just to play it safe.

That's almost a 0% possibility. myLink while using some open source software is a separate ecosystem (i.e. a virus would have to be written specifically for it). If your phone even had a virus it would not be able to transfer it via BT anyway because of the protocols in use. Not saying it's impossible...but you have a greater chance of finding intelligent life in a distant solar system than giving myLink a virus.
