It's stories like this, that I read, that makes me want to go back to buying muscle cars of yesterday, that are easier to fix and don't have computers that can be hacked.

I'll keep following these type of stories, but the future doesn't look bright...OR SAFE for that matter.

All cars on the planet since 1992 have an OBD II port. Plug in a cable and have at the data. Our camaros are no different. If Chevrolet locked the computer down you'd only be able to go certified Dealerships to get service. And for years third parties have been offering ECM flashes or new programs.

You could "hack" most muscle cars of yester-year with a screwdriver by the way. Can't count the number of times I started a car without a key, defeated a steering wheel lock, or got into a car without a key.

Think of it as "accessing the software and making modifications".

Developer access is trying to make it sound like you are doing something ok. From GM's point of view this is not. You might accessing software that has an impact on safety systems or emissions systems or the performance or FE of the vehicle. All things GM is held accountable for.

GM does not allow "developer access" that I was ever aware of in any way shape or form. Your Camaro may get tweaks by GM, that happens all the time. But for you to do it? Same as going into your Microsoft software, changing lines of code and then expecting Microsoft to replace it if fails to operate properly. And PowerPoint won't kill you....................it might seem like it at times, but it won't. Your car can.

We are not changing the software, simply looking at what GM has on and whats off in the code's, here are 3 pics.

This is with us turning the lights to blue like the ATS has.

This is how the 2.0L will look, see the turbo boost in the IP.

Last pic is what we believe is the IP for the Z** looks like, all this is in the IP now, all that has to be done is to turn it on.

Based on the things posted they are working on, all are features available (except disabling video lock out) in other myLink equipped vehicles. So none of it would be safety/emissions concerns. Hence why I said developer access. They are enabling features that the software/hardware supports but were not enabled (yet) for this model. Now tuning the PCM or disabling SRS/ABS/etc is entirely different.

Very cool. I'm sure GM will offer more camera options in the future model years, but its nice to know that the connections are there to run extra equipment, which can be enabled with some software mods. I'm still confused why performance data recorder wasn't standard on the 2016 2SS.

Would the "Z" version also have the Turbo gauge necessarily?

I wonder if there is any setting in the computer to set the speedometer to be compatible with 3.91 rather than 3.73 gears?

In system information it says open source so it seems they want you to mod software.

There has not been ONE case on here of a warranty being denied for a tune.

Front cameras would be great or if there was sensors for the front like the rear has when your baking up would be cool too
