I called them as well and its confirmed. Apparently GM changed the pads on the 17s? (Wow really GM??). Power stop said it will likely be after March of 2017 before they have those available.
:( 2 days of driving and my wheels have what looks like 2 weeks of brake dust.

I did not specify to the Power Stop tech that I had 6 piston Brembo. I just told him I had a 2017 SS Camaro. Do the 2017 SS Anniversary cars come standard with 4 or 6 piston?

I pointed out the difference between the 4 and 6 piston option with the girl I spoke to at PowerStop. Hoping that she would tell me that it was only the 6 pistion pads were different. Unfortunately she said it doesn't matter. 2017's either 4 or 6 piston are different than 2016's 4 and 6 piston.

Alright guys. Check this out. So I called my local Chevy dealer and specifically asked if there was a possible Brake Pad change from 16 to 17 on the 4 piston Brembos. He looked up the part #'s for the 16 first and then asked for my VIN# so he could cross reference what pads part # mine called for. IT WAS THE SAME!
So I have no idea why Powerstop is telling us Chevy changed the pads for the 17's. (Wouldn't even be Chevy. It would be Brembo and I highly doubt that) I feel like calling to have them explain that. . UPDATE: Just spoke to someone again at Powerstop. Look, after talking to the customer service lady. I'm convinced they really don't have a clue. She just rambled on about if its not in their catalog they haven't released the product yet. Yada Yada Yada. I honestly see no reason why the 2016 part #'s wouldn't work on 2017s. Worse case you order a set and see they don't match or something then send them back.

You won't wait long. I ordered a set for the front and rear. I will compare the stock pads to the new Powerstops, install, etc.

Well, you'll get yours before I get mine because my order for some reason didn't go through. I'm having to reorder.
And yes, the anniversary edition v8 only comes with 6 piston fronts. |

You mean 4 piston fronts. The six piston option is over $3000 for brakes alone and the 50th package is only an $1800 option for all the extras that make it a 50th. Calipers are just painted orange.

In ADDITION, I drove to my local Green Bay, WI Dealer and showed the service writer my brake dust with 300 miles (first tank of gas) and she said she would quote out new pads and rotors to stop the brake dust. I waited 10 minutes and then interrupted her diligent work and said "are you looking up the same parts as are already installed"? And she said "yes, yours must be defective". I was like you are a moron (to myself) and walked out. The moral of the story is "young" Service writers can be idiots that have likely never turned a wrench. OMG, the Ram Service writer for my Ram is even worse! Bear |
