Corvette forums are indicating CU pricing will no longer be tied to GMU Program Pricing as of the middle of July. I suspect these alerts are based on fact. What it would mean is there would be a $750 CU discount instead of Supplier Pricing. I do not know the details but hopefully one of our dealers will.

It wasn't that much later. I ordered our 2010 SS on May 4, 2009 using the employee discount.

During the earlier announcement of the pending Fifth Gen, GM spokesmen indicated Program Pricing would be available from the get go. This marked a change in past practice and now can be viewed as an exception to current practice.

As for the Corvette Stingray, Program Pricing became actually available early March several months after the August start of Production.

I think many of us on this site who pre-ordered a 2010 Camaro got the supplier discount. I know I did.

I see no reason why it wouldn't be available on the 2016.

I was under the impression that the employee discount applied to any new GM vehicle purchased by a GM employee or immediate family. Am I wrong?

Thor, you are not wrong. With the exception of the Gen5 Camaro, which did allow Program Pricing (employee and supplier) from the time the order bank opened, there is normally a several week lead time from the Start of Regular Production to the beginning of when these might apply. Also, dealers are not required to accept program pricing and there are many who do not. Interestingly, as far as I know every dealer around me accepts program pricing. I think I know why.

My point: pricing for the Gen5 did not follow all previous past practices and in the last few years pricing has followed all past practices except what happened with the Gen5. It would be nice if Chevy does with the Gen6 what it did with the Gen5: announce pricing before the order bank opens and allow Program Pricing from the beginning. But I am not holding my breath.

I'm crossing my fingers for supplier pricing, this will be my first car purchase where I can actually take advantage of it.

That would be a real shame. I'm not sure if I want to go several months from my lease turn in till I can apply the employee discount to a new car. To be perfectly honest if it weren't for the employee discount I'd be in a Mustang right now. I guess we'll have to wait and see how this plays out. I'm sure my dealer will apply it if it's available.

My dealer is ordering for me with supplier pricing through my company, already discussed it with the sales manager and have it in writing...just depends on the dealer, but if you have access to it I would make use of it, even if it means going to another dealer that will actually honor it.

Supplier pricing is more than Invoice, so maybe consider buying from a dealer than tends to go Invoice.

Another thing Chevy did with the Gen5: a promise that every retail sold order (a customer order) would be assembled. That promise was honored hence the Gen5 1st model year continued longer than originally forecast. Normally if production ends for the model year with a pulled (2000) retail sold order not produced, the customer is given an opportunity to roll the order over. Price protection applies if at 3000 (2500 I have been told).

Since supplier is more than invoice there is no reason to bar a dealer from selling around that price, say $1 under, to keep from being flagged for audit. Just an idea.

I did not realize the 2010 Camaro was an exception. Interesting. I'd guess they just wanted as many pre-orders as possible since it was a complete re-launch of the brand.

I hope the 2016 follows suit though! Otherwise I'll be waiting.

Talked to my dealer yesterday. He said no problem on the Employee discount. I mentioned the rumors around here about it not being available right away. He said the GM employee discount applies to everything it doesn't matter that it's a brand new model year. Now I take this with a grain of salt since he just may not know any better but I'm also optimistic.
