Exactly. There will always be those that see an EV version of their favourite ICE vehicle, especially pony cars, as "not really" what the nameplate says it is. To a point I understand that sentiment, but at the end of the day if Ford or gm says some EV CUV is a Mustang or a Camaro, then that's what it is. But, just like it's their choice to call whatever they want, whatever they want, I can choose to not buy one.

GM is no longer interested in building a budget conscious performance car. That became even more clear when the Corvette went mid engine only. Sad times.

What does that have to do with it? The C8 was almost the exact same price as the outgoing C7 so I'm not seeing that argument.

Looks like red/orange calipers will be available/part of the Collector's Edition.

With Ford continuing with a Coyote Mustang for the near term, maybe GM will give it a rethink and come back with a Gen 7 V8 Camaro.

GM has a unique opportunity to see how things play out. Dodge only has a EV Car starting in 2024 and Ford has a V8 performance vehicle with an auto or manual. I predict the Mustang to do well especially after it lost two competitors. If it does well enough maybe GM will consider doing a new Camaro Gen like the Mustang and keep the V8 like they are doing with their trucks and SUVs but I am not going to hold my breath and it will probably just do an EV only Camaro. I have a milestone birthday in 2028 I will keep my Camaro probably until I die since I have the means too but I want something to go with it and it looks like Ford will get my money with a Mustang. Ford wins in this situation they played this really well and took advantage of the situation very very very well. |
