and the V-6 1LE is two seconds quicker around the track at GM’s Milford Proving Grounds than the fifth-generation SS.
Ummmm.....wow....

I've read/heard many times that a slotted rotor helps with outgassing, which keeps the pad from pushing away from the rotor when it heats up.

You know that any components from the factory are going to be top of the line quality wise and have been tested, thoroughly. I don't think you have anything to worry about if you use the GM slotted rotors at the track. It was probably a move to save $ and keep the cost of the car as low as possible. People are going to chew through rotors that track it regularly anyway, so I don't think it's a big deal. They do look pretty nice though.

I'd be more concerned with a proper track pad vs the rotor. And changing out the fluid

Solid face rotors will do 99% of what is needed, the most reliably. If you need more for one of the three reasons above, move to a slotted rotor. Stay away from drilled rotors. The only ones worth anything are the expensive ones that have a lot of engineering behind them. Otherwise they are a big risk in failing on track. |

Did I miss something? What is GM's patented treatment?

Track > 1/4 Mile

I wouldn't be worried about slotted rotors, especially factory slotted. I have nearly 1,000 track miles on my '16 C7 Z51 with a very very aggressive race pad and I'm still on the original rotors.

Seconded.
Change your fluid...and the car will likely out-drive you, until you get better... |
