Cosco Sams isn't a brand, they contract out in bulk to the local contractors.

Gas
There is a lot of dispute to which gas to use and which not to use, but the logical reality is the gas is all the same.. some put more "additives" in their gas for different ways of cleaning and the price difference is solely based on their opinion of the quality they think it gives. Arco gas Is going to be the same as Chevron, 76 and even Shell.. don't be fooled. I run Arco 91 in my 1SS 1LE and it will never have a problem. Thanks

I've (almost) always bought name brand gas for the last 30+ years. But there was a 4 month stint a few years ago where my wife was insisting we try to save $ on gas by going to Sheetz (a "discount" gas chain in here in the south) for our gas. It was typically priced $0.10-15 cheaper than the name brand stuff. Well, at the 4 month mark, the minivan (for the first time ever) threw some check engine codes that turned out to be clogged fuel injectors. I'm certain it was the gas (lack of detergent additives) that caused the problem. Switched back to name brand gas and never had the problem again. The reason why "cheap gas" retailers can sell their gas cheaper is that they don't add much if any detergents or stabilizers. It's the same octane, and yes it came from the same place as the Shell (and ARCO!) gas; it just didn't get much anything else helpful added to it. If you really want to test your theory that there isn't a difference, stop taking your Camaro to ARCO and instead buy from any of the retailers that aren't on the TopTier.com list. Do that for several months and report back to us. |
