You think they'll give half of the track package away for free? I would be impressed if they did. And pissed...if I had just bought a track package GT350.

They'll get over it, just like owners of 2010 Mustangs got over the fact that 2011 Mustangs received the Coyote engine and more features for only a marginal increase in price.

Did z/28 buyers who paid $75K (or more)for their car get pissed when GM discounted the heck out of them later in the production cycle? Are they going to be pissed if this new 1LE package puts a 1SS at or near it's track times for a fraction of the money?

I think the street price of a 1LE will be around $42k and a new 2017 GT350 will be about $54k if you can find one without a markup. 1LE's will be plentiful.

You can't use the price people actual pay for a car ( I assume that is what you mean by "street price") as a baseline, because you can always work a deal depending on your bargaining skills or the dealership relationship. We're speaking MSRP without delivery/destination.

Of course an SS with the 1LE will be easier to obtain, it's simply an option on a 1SS. The GT350 is being built in limited numbers, by design.

No way the price will only go up $2k with track pack being standard.

Base price of the 2016 GT350 is $47,870. I'm not sure how they do math where you live, but the difference between $51,995 and the previous MSRP is $4,125, not $2000. No, I am not including destination/delivery which I know would add to the total price paid, but this is an apples-to-apples base MSRP comparison.

The '17 1LE is gonna be a rockin' good deal and continue to raise the performance bar for affordable american sport coupes.

Isn't that what many are expecting from the 1LE?....SS buyers who got MRC, NPP, upgraded brakes...(yeah, yeah, there dealer installed...still an option now), will be pissed if everything that comes with the 1LE option is about the same price as what they just paid for a few options on their SS....

Most people include the destination/delivery...so the common understanding is that the base price of a GT350 is 49,9xx. That was my initial reaction to your number, as well...and the number I used for my guess.

The devil's in the details, I suppose.

Well...sorta. But it's a little different in that many of the components in the GT350s Track Package are already included on a standard SS, such as the coolers, springs, driver control system, bracing, and spoiler....

Not only that...the track package and GT350 have been out for a year, now. It would appear (as another thread suggested), that Ford came to their senses seeing a track-ready 37,000 SS with an assortment of coolers standard...and a track-dominating 1LE package incoming; and felt silly offering a "track car" that can't handle track extended track duty without an extra package worth of stuff. Keeping up with the Joneses that these two cars do non-stop......

Unfortunately for non-1LE buyers...the brake kit is so expensive because it's an LPO. Which gives the 1LE package an inherent benefit in cost right there...upwards of a $1500 benefit...

Destination is included with the Camaro MSRP. If you want to compare the two, it's gotta be apples to apples. That's why I included it. Also, the GT350 has a gas guzzler tax too.

Tell you what, when the pricing for both cars is available later this year, we can have a fact-based discussion. Until then, we can all have fun guessing.

You can also order the front 6 piston Brembo kit after the fact. My dealer was going to sell the front kit to me for $2500, I install. Then I would sell the standard 4 piston set that came on the car.

My original plan was to order a 1SS, add the exhaust, and MRC , 6 speed, then do a few cosmetic updates, M228 10s X 11s with sticky tires, and the front brakes.

But now I'm going to wait and see how much the new 1LE cost. If its to high I may go back to plan A, but I bet it will be a wash since I would have been in the 1SS about $45 with a little paint work I also wanted to do.

I sure hope Chevy lowers the new 1LE at least an inch, tires to wheel well ?

Also do you know if they will be offering the SS 1LE in blue and white, black is a deal killer for me so I sure wish I could find out ?

Thanks Dale
