Likewise. I want to see them run as well.

Fair enough, would you pay 75K+ for a Camaro? Me I probably wouldn't I would probably go Corvette in that price range.

If you want a stock LT1 for the lightest drag racing configuration, but know you need wider wheels and tires, someone may opt for it. It makes more sense to just buy rear 17x10.5s and throw drag radials on, but then it's "not stock"... If your autocrossing a V6 or I4 1LE then you could also definitely use more tire.
Sorry I guess I haven't been following all the GT350 reviews.
:
All good. I get what you are saying. I totally understand it from a buyers perspective that the option might be great for LT1 buyers. I think from the business standpoint or GM's view is where it doesn't make sense. Once you are well enough into SS range I bet they would rather sell the SS than the LT1

Agreed 1000% That's why there are tons of videos of guys in Miata's passing tons of "faster" cars

GT500 will be the faster 1/4 mile car in all "real" scenarios, all things being equal.

The video I posted was in my anticipation of the road course testing. Yes I go to the road course, yes I go to drag race tracks. Yes the 3 cars in the video are the road course packages for their respective platforms. What I am looking forward to, is seeing how the A10 ZLE stacks up against a CFTP GT500. Yes price is a factor - if it wasn't, no one would argue to buy used over new...
Agree

Of course it could, thats why we want to see them tested together to see what happens!

I actually think the ZL1 launch control is pretty good. It see's less of a variance than the other two so I would say that it's a combo of the launch control and the platform

Honestly no I would go Corvette as well. But I dont have to pay 75k+ for a super charged Camaro.

That is also true.

Hell I honestly would probably cap it at 50 for a Mustang or Camaro or Challenger. After that I'd save my pennies and go Corvette

I agree, but would go mid 50's for a ZL1. There are a few low miles ZL1's that could be had for $50K or less, and I think some would be lucky enough to haggle a deal on a new one for $55K.

Sadly, looks like Chevy won't be making Vettes with manuals anymore, so that changes things for me and I am having to change my thinking on what I want to own.

Right now, there is no manual offered new that beats a ZL1 at anything. Cost, performance, value, reliability, manual for manual nothing touches a ZL1/ZLE at anything.

This is going to sound snobbish but I don't know if I could buy a used performance car unless I personally knew the previous owner lol. I would be to afraid that the previous owner beat the living hell out of it lol

Agreed - I'm a manual purist, and other than a ZLE, I'm closely watching C7 ZR1 values as it is the last holy grail big HP ICE only manual car.

The best way is to know the previous owner - I look for small details if I'm buying used - I equate the way an owner treats the interior of a car (door sills, kick plates, cleanliness, buttons, etc), to how they maintain and use the rest of the car/vehicle.

I'll admit I've never experienced ZL1 launch control, but going by the fast guys here, it sucks. My A8 launch control is calibrated for stock SS power levels and is useless and in my M6 Hellcat the only thing launch control was good for was basically ricer 2 step sounds.

I dont think that is snobbish at all, being concerned how a performance car has been treated is just smart haha.

This is how I feel too. If the rest of the car was meticulously maintained, as I treat mine, them I assume they had the same care in driving and maintaining the engine etc. I have sold my previous performance cars, and treated them extremely well, and I can't be the only one. There are good cars out there. What I am buying also matters, a used 350 is a NO no matter what, but LT4's and 6th Gen Camaros in general are much more stout and reliable.

I've spent a bunch of time in a C7 Z06 A8 testing launch control. It's great for newbs, but it's far from optimal. Tire temps were the biggest factor for obvious reasons.

C'mon man. 'X' car could always beat 'y' car if the driver blows it off the line or for whatever other reason, but you know that on average the GT500 will be faster than the ZL1.

And how is the GT500 affected more by conditions?

Different laws of physics apply to Fords, he will explain it to you.

This. All things equal, the ZL1 will never beat the GT500 in a straight line. A win due to error is still a win, but not because the ZL1 is the faster car, it simply isn't and I can't see why anyone would think so as we all predicted the GT500 to be the faster 1/4 mile car.
