You could get a 10-22 and just change the stock if you are on a budget. or go with the M&P that helmin mentioned.

I am building an AR as close to an M4 as possible. I have been looking for awhile and came across this for an upper. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-1...risii%20de.htm

What do you all think? Keep in mind I am a lefty shooter.

If you know of one cheaper let me know, but I need a 5.56 chamber, 1:7 twist and a chrome lined chamber/barrel as well as a feed ramp.

Also are there any good lowers for lefties/ ambidextrous shooters that would go with this rifle? I want to have a nice magpul stock, so without a stock is a big plus.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with a Bravo Company upper. Any milspec lower will mate up with the upper. Pick the one whose rollmark (engraving on the side of the receiver) you like best. Or buy whatever and have the opposite laser engraved.

Also, Stag makes left handed ARs.

If you haven't heard of Stag, they are the commercial side of CMT (Continental Machine and Tool) and CMT is a big gov't military contractor.

Even more fun, build your own! That is what I did. That way I didn't waste any money on parts I didn't want.

Thanks, I will def. get the Bravo upper as the local gun shop here is selling a basic stag AR-15 for 1200 and I can build an AR with the bravo upper for less.

What optic you going with?

You will find that moding your AR15 will be just about as much fun as moding your camaro... Personally, I have both Colt and BM ARs and both are great.

a-men... you can spend 2x or more on AR15 mods as you did on the cost of the rifle itself.

So I have a question for those here. If shit hit the fan what optic (if you could only have one, would you want?

My personal preference is an eoTech with a 4X flip to side magnifier.

AK47 - these is nothing else as - hitting power - durable - ammo avail. - interchangeable parts with other foreign made ones, etc. etc. etc. I have 4 of them.

My motivational toy pic I made in 2010 - missing my Vector Underfolder:

There are some really good deals on AR lowers right now. Palmetto State Armory has a sale on their lowers for about $70 with free shipping. My brother just bought a PSA lower and said it looked great. I agree Bravo companies has a good reputation for value and quality. PK firearms also has good prices on uppers.

I also like the E O Tech but I have a back up iron sight and no magnifier on my duty rifle. I also have a 16" 6.5 Grendel AR with a 2.5 X 10 Lighted Reticle scope which gives the AR a little more range and punch. (6.5 Grendel is a 7.62X39 case necked down to .264/6.5 MM).

AR's are just as addicting as cars only its called BRD (Black Rifle disease) and has been known to cause people to catch BPD (Black Pistol Disease).

I had one... wish I still did. I'll get another one someday..... I'll always chose a gun over a wife.... the gun has plenty of advantages over the wife, you can have more than one gun and you can shoot the gun... but you can't shoot the wi...... oh wait,
