Interesting that the aux pump is needed on top of the dual in-tank. I wouldn't have called that one.

Looks like it will be a solid build! The only main differences between yours and mine when we are both finished will be the blower and PI vs DI fueling, I think. I'm guessing you'll hit about 950 and I'm hoping I'll hit about 1050.
Thank man ! That's cool our builds are so close.

So, the DSX Aux pump is NOT needed for this build. But, Mike suggested it just to give us head room as their Katech Dual Drop-in Fuel Pump is rated at 900rwhp. He's thinking, there's a potential, if all the stars align, it could hit at the maxed out, 925 to 950rwhp! So, the Aux pump would be needed in that case !

Spinning the blower as hard as you are, and with the interchiller there to keep IAT's reasonable, I would think 925+ would be achievable, particularly since you can rev it higher with the cam and valvetrain.

So, if I understood Mike correctly. By adding the CAM and having the head porting service done. This will make the intake air much process more efficient, thus, causing boost to drop a bit. Again, if I understood what Mike was explaining to me. Thus, we are adding the 9.60" lower to get the boost back in the range it is now, 21psi to 23psi. This is when I'm not getting belt slip, and have pulley wear or belt ware.

Making the engine more efficient at moving air means boost drops but power goes up. Your IATs typically fall too since the intercooler doesn’t have to work as hard…this is especially true on a less efficient blower like the OEM 1.7L blower. Your boost number is very high for the power level you’re at IMO. I’m at 19 pounds FWIW.

If you didn't want to open the engine, and don't care about having chop, then why are you so stuck on the OEM blower to achieve 900+. It's doable without the cam...I'm doing it as are a lot of other members.

I agree it makes for the most sense to just go the Maggie path, and bang I'm there. But yeah... I love the over spun blower whine, I like the street sound of no cam, and not sure why I've decided to go against my original don't open the motor idea. Probably, due to other ZL1 guys I hang out with all have chop, and I don't? I've not moved forward with anything yet that can't be changed. My IAT.2 temps are actually really good. But, when staging or waiting in line, even with the car running, the IAT.2 starts creeping up, and then starts cooling down once I leave the tee. I will consider the Maggie before my final decision, thanks for pointing that out!

The Maggie won't whine nearly as much unless you also spin it to the moon, that's for sure. I would never value supercharger whine (that to me will forever sound like worn ball bearings) over blower efficiency, lower boost and thus lower temperatures, though.

Here's my unsolicited opinion, Scott. I'd say do whatever the heck makes you the happiest. We aren't out there aiming to break Jason Leiva's records, rather just building cool cars that make us happy on the weekend, at the strip, and at the cars and coffee. Cam or no cam, 2650 or 1740, meth or no meth, chiller or no chiller, it's all good in my book. Many people have had success with all manner of combinations of parts. So I say, choose what makes sense to you (that Katech also says will work), stroke the check, and watch your grin get bigger when you get the car back.

I can't hear myself think with the new pulley and DSX lid I added to the magnuson with the amount whine lol....hell it sounds like my wife is driving with me every time........if you already got a shitload of money into the lil guy and aren't going to be able to recoup that cash going the Maggie route than stick with it....just know there are 1,000 different ways (as others have already stated) to achieve what you want besides what Katech says. Sure their a good shop but their looking at their invoice.....and your card number....as are all businesses as they should....before they are YOUR end goals!

arpad_m & RobZL1 ! Thanks for the input and yes, always having a grin is important !!!

clg82 - Good points I agree and I get it I feel that Katech advises me well. They also listen well, to what I keep saying I want, I want ot change and what end result I'm looking for. In fact I've run Mike through the ringer, I just courted up the build quotes he's sent me since May and I'm on #9 for how many times I've changed my mind of things! I know Katech is a big price tag, but, I'm ok with that. Also, I realize the factory blower is being pushed to it's max effort. But, yep, how loud the whine is, it's crazy loud! But, also CRAZY AWESOME! I love it, I love that people can hear me driving down the street, and know that must be "Scott"! It's kind of something I actually prefer. But, to be clear, Katech originally suggested the Maggie for my build, but, like Gabe, I really like the factory blower being max out and the with the x-ported and the lid and the whine. I'll update if I change the build obviously! Thanks again !!!

Actually it has a lot of whine if you replace the stock mag lid with a DSX.

Update: It's official, I wired the money to Katech and moving forward with the build, no going back now! The build hasn't changed, since earlier (see below). Mike will using the existing pulley setup, 2.3" & 9.45" and get the baseline Dyno. From my understanding, after the build's completed. They will tune/Dyno with the existing 2.3" & 9.45", then pop the 9.6" lower on and tune/Dyno and see which works best out of the two combos. Mike will let me know the results and then we'll decide which combo to leave on the car!

So, after Jax Wax Street Madness drag racing this Saturday. I'll be taking the car up to Katech mid/end of October/first part of November. I got some really good feed back form Joshinator99, radz28, RobZL1, Gabe, King and many others. I realize this build could push the car to the edge of street driving and enjoyability. But, I mostly drive to/from Car's and Coffee, Car Shows, and racing. My car was and never will be a daily, so I think being on the edge will be ok. Maybe after I get the car back and start driving and enjoying it for next summer, fall may be the time I add the Maggie if I feel something needs to change with the build etc. !!!

Build as planned:

Katech Track Day CAM
BTR Dual Value Spring Kit
Katech/Johnson Drop in Lifters
GM Lifter Trays
Trend 3/8 Chromoly Pushrods
Katech VVT Delete Front Cover
CNC Port Cylinder Heads
Competition Valve Job
Hand Blending
Competition Cylinder Head Assembly
GM LT4 Head Gaskets
ARP Head Studs
DSX 9.60" Lower Pulley
Gates HD Green Belt to Proper Length
Katech AFM Delete Valley Cover
GM LS Style Front Crankshaft Seal
GM Crankshaft Bolt
Katech C5-R Timing Chain
Katech Timing Chain Guide
Katech Oil Pump / Billet Wet Sump
DSX Aux Pump Kit
Fragola Fuel Tank Fitting
Brisk Racing Plugs
Coolant, Brake Fluid, Oil & Filter
Gen-V Dyno Tuning including TCU Tuning and Street Tuning
Installation / Build
