Ahhh got ya. Surround sound makes such a difference in FPS.... I constantly get accused of cheating because people run up behind me and I turn around shooting.

too many times I've played FPS, and I would shoot someone that's coming up on me. hit him 2 or 3 times, and he doesn't die, but I die once he stabs me with a knife.

In that IGN article that was just posted they mention a rumor that Microsoft changed their minds about not including a headset. When they asked Microsoft about it they wouldn't answer so it might be in the works. For $500 it better come with one.
