When the cam was installed, was piston to valve clearance checked?

Don't think so but not completely sure

Not the first time intercooler bricks have leaked and caused a failure. I have seen it reported on at least 2 other ZL1's. Don't think it's related to a defective part. I think it's more related to installation error from when the supercharger was removed. Pinched O ring or something of the sorts. I didn't see the full break down of the other failures...

Pressure tested the bricks and no leaks. It was the exhaust valve head that broke off

I guess I missed the post, but where did all the coolant come from in the supercharger? I do agree with others that already posted that it's pretty uncommon for IC bricks to leak, but was just stating that I have seen it reported a couple of times over the years. Broken exhaust valve is odd at your power level. Something must have been off on the valve train setup as previously mentioned.

That is still a mystery to me. If I had to guess I think a O-ring must've been a little worn. A broken spring would explain the valve contacting the piston and breaking off but tbh not sure what went on

The two most important things when installing a new cam are to degree the cam and check piston to valve clearance.

Too far advanced and Intake makes contact, too far retarded and exhaust valve makes contact.

After the valve dropped it would only take a split second to crack the head or block and cause the coolant leak.

Did you install the cam yourself?

Fair enough as long as their owning up to it and paying for the damage, as any reputable shop should do.

I would agree on an engine more extensively modified. But installing a stage 1 or 2 cam kit in a stock head/compression LT4 usually doesn't necessitate those measures. There is normally plenty of PTV just needs to be lined up dot to dot on the gears. Now if the heads were milled and/or thinner gaskets were used, then yeah PTV should definitely be verified.
