I will be ordering a 2ss 1le in the Minneapolis area and can’t live without heated seats and heated steering wheel. The website still shows heated seats, steering wheel and cooled seats as a standard equipment, however, there is a warning on the build site that some equipment and items are limited and needs dealer verification. I tried to spec out some of the vehicles that are in the list of no heated seats such as Malibu Premier, and it still shows heated seats as the standard equipment. My dealer is asking for $2000 deposit to order the car and wait possibly for about 8 to 9 months. I think i m going to ask for a written agreement that if the car does come without the standard equipment, i will get my deposit back and be able to walk away. That car will sell anyhow.

to the forums, ALMN, you have chosen well when it comes to what this car offers. Tough situation with the shortages... I read in another thread that seat heating functionality can be retrofitted (and I assume the dealership will do it for free), but the heated steering wheel is not.

The agreement is a good idea, although, depending on the dealership, these deposits may be refundable in general anyway, regardless of why you walk. Chips may also become available by the time your car is scheduled for production.

The one article I read and posted somewhere on the forum lol said the equipment will be in place just needs the chipset plugged in.
Found the main point.

“ GM will now sell vehicles with the hardware for the features and pay its dealers to install the chips when they’re available. There will be no cost to customers, but a trip back to the dealership with a new vehicle isn't ideal.”

And just imagine the fun on the used car market going forward, cars getting listed as having features but the owner was either too lazy or not knowledgeable enough about what is going on to go get the chips installed, so the new owner gets a 'broken' car.

Maybe they should handle the retrofits like a recall notice and tie it to the VIN, so they have a method of looking up the car and seeing if the recall service has been completed.

On a more selfish note - my fully completed-at-the-factory 2022 might just turn out to be one of the rarest Camaros built.... /sarcasm=off.

Went cooled/ventilated seats about 6 years ago and I will never go back. Deal breaker for me. Of course I live in a HOT climate, it gets upwards of 120 in the summer here around Phoenix. The wife got a new Honda Odyssey last year and I ponied up the dough for the Elite model (only one with ventilated seats), MSRP was $50K.

We don't call that (or owning a pool) a "luxury" around here.

Difference is the odyssey prob has AC seats vs the wimpy fans the sports cars get.
I know my other vehicles it’s night and day compared to sports cars.

Why would you need heated seats on a car with tires that don't work below 40 deg F?

Why do you care if someone else needs them? Maybe because you can change the tires. Or because 40 degrees is still pretty damn cold.

If you had a convertible and drove it with the top down (mine doesn't go out unless the top is down) when the temperature is in the mid to high 40's you would appreciate heated seats and heated steering wheel too.

Heated seats on a car with summer tires?

It's an oxymoron.
