I have a 2016 nightfall grey SS. If I find a 2017 nightfall grey ss 1le with less miles and I can pay 5-6k out of pocket to upgrade than I might do it. Other than that I’m not selling. I should probably not go for the 1le either because I feel like my next one should be a Zl1. Definitely not paying for a zl1 in todays market. I purchased my ss in November of 2019. Back then you could find 2/3 year old zl1’s for mid to high 40’s. If the market ever goes back down to those prices that’s when I’ll buy a zl1

With the Camaro nearing its end I wonder if values will ever drop that low again. Also, the supply of all vehicles will be low for some time creating higher prices in the market overall. I just don't see a flood of inventory that is going to force prices to drop any time soon. Not to mention, all the folks that are now having to pay MSRP or higher are not going to be so willing to take that kind of depreciation. Also factor in inflation, everything is going up in price and usually the prices never full retreat back to what they once were.

We also have to factor what is happening with EVs. Will EVs cause the demand for V8s to drop or will there be enough V8 enthusiasts still available to maintain or even spike the prices of muscle cars?

Anyone have a crystal ball so I can time the selling of mine?

Just for $hits and Grins I went on Vroom to get a quote for my '16 2SS with 45k miles.. $34,400.00... Tempting... No, not really... If I sold it to Vroom, all I'd be doing is looking at getting a newer one. If I was wanting to dump the car and not looking for something different, I'd have already clicked to continue with the sale.

I'm about C-hair away from letting it go to one of the online sellers and jumping to a ZL1 if the payments are right.

i'm wondering if the used price on our cars will continue to be higher. Even if the chip shortage wanes, there will still have been a depressed number of Camaro's produced. Considering a 2023, or 2024 (if there are any!).

My thought is yes they will. Come next spring when there still is no new ones to be had, our used ones values will inflate even more.

Theoretically, unless there's a glut of used inventory that won't move

bought a 21 supra back in may because it was gonna be impossible to get a Camaro and i'm impatient.
Vroom will give me more then I paid for it at this point so deciding on selling it and finally getting my ss.

I did that with a 2021 Miata. I bought it right before they started selling them at MSRP and adding ADM. I drove it for 8 months and traded it for about a $1k less than I paid.

Traded it for the ZL1. It was only a small upgrade in power.

I actually remember the last time camaro’s got discontinued, they continued to depreciate. No one seemed to want them back then even though they were significantly better than equal year Mustangs and still better than the s197 mustang when it came out. I’m hoping the same thing happens when the car gets discontinued and the chip shortage is done with. Yes 4th Gen values have skyrocketed recently but so has every other sports car from the 90’s and 00’s that were good performance cars for their time.

I do agree with what you said about inflation but inflation alone isn’t why they are up about 20% in price. So yes they might never drop to as low as they were before but I think it will get close. My prediction is late summer/fall 2023 values of used cars will start to drop and should “normalize” (and adjust for inflation) by 2024. Im okay with this because the end of 2024 is when my warranty is up and when I’d be looking for a used zl1. Also the people who overpaid the last year and next year are going to probably have to suck it up and take the hit when dealers are no longer offering top value for trade ins once they finally have new car inventory.

I’m actually terrified of what ev’s are going to do in regards to gas car values. If I get a used zl1 in 3-4 years, will it be a 45k paper weight 5 years after that? I’ve told myself that I’m okay with that happening and can take the hit financially but ONLY if gas prices are still affordable (not sure at all what this will be like in an EV future).

I owned an '82 Celica/Supra for a number of years back in the day. I would never be able to buy a new one. Yep it's heads and tales over the old one mechanically and technically, but looks... no way, the new ones are just simply ugly. Besides, It's really a BMW right

Agreed. It is a tricky if you are focused on optimizing the timing of of all this. I already have a Tesla and have been down the EV path, which is why I picked up a ZL1 since this is pretty much the last we will see of them. EVs make great daily drivers but I don't find them that exciting to drive, at least not yet. Once you get used to the instant torque there is not much left for an enthusiast to get excited about. Maybe GM has something up their sleeve for enthusiast. Dodge is already promoting eMusclecars.

Got the Supra 3k under MSRP.
The problem I'm seeing is it looks like 2SS' might be hard to get or specifically timing when I can get one. First dealer I emailed today won't even place orders atm.

Overall I don't dislike the car, but 8 months on now it's just not a Camaro. I want v8 rumble and I miss not having Android Auto.
Supra gets pretty loud but only when you REALLY stomp on it in sport.
