Glad to see an OP paying attention to his thread!
As far as long term reliability of this option, the "warranty issue" and "maintenance" threads here are not exactly bursting with reports of sunroof problems. In fact, they are rare. I think you will get better life out of a sunroof if the car is garaged and not continuously exposed to things like brutal sun/heat or extreme cold. That will age the rubber. Never had a sunroof leak in any of my garaged cars. I keep my cars longer than most (usually > 10 yrs). |

I love the Mohawk look of the 6th Gen without the sunroof but I still need my sunroof. It was a must for me despite the fact that I probably only use it 5 times per year here in Central Texas.

As far as exhaust, if you don't get NPP, then put aside $1K for Non-NPP Borla S-type. The stock non-NPP exhaust is way too quiet for most. Myself included.

I'm not sure what's wrong with me but I really like quiet cars, just want a fast one! Does the stock exhaust setup include enhanced exhaust sound over the speakers? I'm hoping not!
I read one review of the CT5-V where they claim piped in exhaust sound brings the interior to 92 decibels! Ninety Freakin Two! I carried ear plugs to avoid that kind of thing in construction sites for years. Perhaps that was in track mode or something but still! |

Others replied pretty well to the OP. I have a sunroof and I am trading my car in for a 1LE because of the headroom. It still a fun car and I enjoy it during those hot days but now road courses is my new hobby. I never road course at all until I got my camaro, the 1LE is car is superior car of choice. I need the headroom instead of slouching the seat back. Plus I want a manual, auto's get pretty boring after a while and the 1LE wasnt around when I purchased my car either.

But you should know this is not a quiet car. There is no exhaust through the speakers. There used to be a "sound tube" which piped intake noise to the interior on some trims. not sure if that was deleted permanently, but pretty easy to remove. If you get a trim with runflat tires, you get more noise. A lot of the stereo upgraders go crazy with sound deadening material. Can't fault them, but obviously changes the character of this muscle car. if you google around, I did post some interior noise SPL measurements in a few threads. I don't expect this to be quiet like new trucks are these days and I have a truck for that kind of thing anyway I just don't want a blast of overly loud (and especially not fake) exhaust noise. I will avoid run flat tires after the stock set wears out. Loud noise just kind of sucks in general IMO but I wear hearing protection for work (when I was in a trade), lawn mowing, motorcycle riding (back in the day) and shooting so it's possible to have loud hobbies if you're careful Quote:

well, while a 3 dB drop in SPL does mean 50% drop in "audio power," it is not going to sound "half as loud" because hearing works different than pure physics. I took an acoustics course in the physics dept at college as a "fun" elective. Logarithms are like a barrel of monkeys.

I've had one with and one without, they're nice to have. In the 5th gens it did seem to make a difference but 6th gen I couldn't tell a difference honestly.
