Glad to see nothings changed over there @ Henessey.

You basically paid 10k for a warranty.
I see you suck at math. HPE is the same as LPE, Ka-tech, LMR and others.

22-2.5-2.5-2.0=?

Work on that for a while and get back to us.

Well, thank God I have not had to have my car hauled by the shop ever. There work has been spot on without issues. Plus the 10k that I saved going with someone else other than Hennessy allows me room to grow or for the unexpected. At any rate, my contribution to this thread was based on 750whp being done for $11,000. I only added more info bc I was called out as if that was impossible.

Well at the beginning of this love fest I believe I said $10-$13k for 750 whp.

I could see another $2k or so but over that...yowsa.

I do not understand why you carry on trying to find a “non mom and pop place” that your trying to prove the prices are the same so you can justify what you paid from Hennessy. Bud who cares. Everyone’s told you many places can do it much cheaper for the same exact work.

We’re glad you love Hennessy. Not many people do, and many get there work done at smaller shops for a hellavua lot less.

There’s a reason why Hennessy doesn’t post here anymore it’s because pretty much they have such a bad rap and not many like them.

I paid $22k which includes one round trip haul and 2 year warranty on any parts they touched.

In June, a Denver Houston roundtrip haul was $2400 and it's impossible to price this warranty but I'll use ~$2000 for now.

If for example I drop one of their new valves, which could possibly destroy a piston or the short block, the cost of repair could be a ton and they would pay. A new short block is $10,000.

So, $19,600 minus the warranty say $17,500 base price.

But they've actually paid for 2 round trip hauls so far, so $17,500 should be reduced.

The other shops did not offer a haul price
That is NOT what the "warranty" means. The warranty from the shop covers ONLY the labor on the parts. Meaning, if you had an engine falure and it can be proven that it was caused due to something being installed incorrectly, then the engine and/or whatever is damaged will be replaced. If you're at WOT on a track and drop a valve, then most likely that is not covered. Other companies do pretty much the same thing. For example, the blower company might offer a warranty on anything that gets damaged if it can be proven that the damage was caused by the blower. So if you get bad gas, a lean condition, something in the tune is messed up, a valve drops, then you're on your own. If a supercharger brick cracks and causes an issue, then the blower company would be responsible. If the engine blows up on the dyno while being tuned, then the performance shop is responsible. If you melt a piston at 130 MPH, then you are responsible.

Basically a "warranty" is nothing more than you shelling out extra money to make yourself feel comfortable with shelling out a lot of money. In most cases, when you have to use it, they will all find reason to avoid paying. Trust me, no shop wants to pay for that kind of work. In most cases you'll have to send the car in, they'll tear it down, investigate, examine the oil used, spark plugs, gasoline in the tank, and everything, and they'll find something to avoid paying. You're better off not getting the warranty and just keeping money aside for if you do break something.

Now most shops are honest and will work with you. But some of them will leave you out to dry. You won't know until you come across an issue.

As far as Hennessey and some other shops, yea they charge quite a bit more than some other smaller but reputable shops. I personally would not go to Hennessey. But to each their own.

There ae a lot of very reputable shops that are mom and pop type establishments. But there are also some reputable shops that have big names. All of the big names will hover around the same price range. But Hennessey is likely the most expensive since he typically deals with wealthy people who have very expensive cars...much more expensive than our ZL1s. The bigger the name and the more high end cars they deal with, the more you'll pay for the work. Some shops also charge a little on the price of the parts. For example, they might charge more for the blower than if you ordered it and brought it to them. So they make money on a little of everything. And then if you do bring them the parts, they will charge extra to make up for that money that they now can't charge for ordering the parts. Like "add $500 if you supply your own parts". LOL!! And the excuse is always that they don't know if it's the right part or if it was tampered with or whatever. But really it's just to make some extra money.

The Magnuson alone is $6400 then all the supporting modes like exhaust, catch can, cold air intake, pully, and so on. About 10k in parts. Then labor and tuning.

Magnuson 2650 $6495
American Racing Headers and non catted x pipe $2400
rotofab big gulp $500
Katech Throttle body $650
Thermostat $85
Green Belt $85
Remove front clip and ship out TCM $275
credits to unlock TCM $200
DSX low side fuel pumo $1000
other misc labor and tune time and credits and molded hoses - stuff you dont think about
such as fluids and fabbing the valve cover and catch can ...
But this is a pump gas build - can be done ALOT cheaper done differently to get HP numbers
But this is an example of a bullet proof set up that can be added to in the future

I think that’s the same as 10k then having problems and having to repair it for 5 years out of pocket, no? Im not sure what way to go and want to hear some opinions please. Thanks Dave
Figure approx. $100/hp
