Update I concur it works. I had tons of issues that do NOT pertain to this mod. DONT BACK OUT THE BOLT ALL THE WAY. Save yourself $90 and a bunch of headaches. I did manage to kill a case of beer in the process lol.

My 2SS has been doing this since I got it last December. Never failed to start but it struggles sometimes when hot, so I'll be adding the cable! Thanks OP!

They sell marine grade cable (stranded, tinned copper) which is better than regular wire/cable. It's more vibration resistant and made for harsh, marine applications. I've ordered a lot of cable from BBW for my boat, excellent product and custom made to your specs.

Go to the website a scroll down to "custom battery cable" or follow this link:

Select the "by the foot" choice, then you can spec exactly what you want. I spec'd 1 foot-8 inches of 1/0 AWG cable in black, with 3/8" terminal connectors on each end (not sure if that's correct, but you can get 1/2" or just drill the 3/8 to what the bolts are), and shrink tubing on each end. Total was $14, plus shipping (which for my zip said $7). So $21 for a high quality 1/0 AWG cable.

I'm so glad you got that tensioner and belt squared away! I added an update on the first post about a second ground I added to the battery and I reinforced the point to not take that tensioner bolt all the way out. Hopefully your reminder here at the end of the thread and my edited emphasis in the first thread will avoid any pain for fellow forum members.

Can you let us know if the 3/8th" terminal worked or if you had to drill it out.

I didn't actually order it yet. Car's in storage til April so I'm in no hurry. I just "built" the cable online to see the price. I'll get the bolt sizes from the car later this winter, but I'm guessing 3/8 would be the way to go as you can drill it out while if it's too big you can't downsize it.

Maybe someone here that's done it can chime in with the actual bolt sizes.

Helpful hint: The engine to body cable I used was 20 inches long and I needed all of that to get it to run where I felt best it would avoid touching the radiator hose and the belt pulley near the engine bolt I used. The cable in this link is 19 inches. That one inch less would have been a problem for me to make it fit the way I wanted. The engine does move around a little when getting on and off the throttle so having just a little slack in the cable for that is a good thing too.
