I'm probably too late to contribute but I was 37K all in out the door for single owner 19 2ss with every option but MRC from a local dealer. 10,900 miles. I've had good luck with rental cars but I say keep looking.

Would I still have leverage considering the Camaro's I am seeing have 200+ days on the lots? I really dont care about options. I do however really only want the leather seats and that V8.
Will dealer give same deal for stock that isn’t theirs to start? If a dealer has to go get a car are they going to give you a better deal than the one on their lot? My thought would be No.

They're advertising at $41989 off a $47180 MSRP. I know everything can be negotiated but what would be an acceptable offer for something like this? I know it's been sitting there for a few months.
I think you could get it down lower than 42k. Not totally sure about 39k, but 42 is still too high. Just be weary about taxes and fees... theyll really add up in this scenario. Most likely would be 45 out the door, which blows your budget by 10k, unless youre trading in a vehicle to save on those taxes.

I personally cant recommend busting your budget by so much, buuuuut if youre interested in stretching your budget some and going new, my CC rewards would apply AFTER negotiation.

Prior to March 2nd it would be 4k off, after its 3k. I would want 1.5k so thats either a net of 2.5 off or 1.5.

Sounds like the best Camaro for you is a 2SS with just NPP, the dual mode performance exhaust - looks like upper 43k MSRP
OR a 1SS, w/ NPP and Recaros if they still do that - mid 40k MSRP.

Not sure what the difference is between 1SS and 2SS anymore... used to be significant, like heated seats and ball coolers, nav, leather...

That depends on the dealer. If they want to sell you a vehicle bad enough they will do it. The last couple of cars I bought have all been dealer trades because the dealer didn't have what we wanted on the lot. In the scenario Jsant threw out there he said the MSRP was lower, assuming he means the MSRP then I don't see why it would be a problem if the dealer can work out a dealer trade...

Now if the price they meant to say was the dealer advertised price was lower...then that is a whole different story.

The only expense is paying a driver to go get it so like $100. The cars aren't even owned by the dealer if under a year, they just transfer the bill of origin between dealers, change the floor plan, and its done. If it's the difference between selling a car and not then yes they will work with you.

I work for Hertz. The SS's we have in our fleet don't get Synthetic oil when they go in for an oil change and don't get premium gas put in them. They get run through the car wash hundreds of times and the black one's we have the paint looks like hell. If they have body damage they get fixed without it getting on a Carfax report. The high 20's is all I think they are really worth. If It was me I would look for a one with one PRIVATE owner.

I unknowingly bought a rental Ford Explorer. The transmission failed less than a thousand miles out of warranty, Ford told me that's my tough luck. Lesson learned.

I sure would not do it. People do not rent SS Camaros to drive to work meetings. And the rental companies only do enough manitainence for the car to survive until it can be sold.

No doubt! Everything I’d expect from a rental agency. They aren’t gonna waste money on upkeep when they are looking for business and profits. With a rental it’s easy to brush all those things under a rug, no one will ever know. Future buyer gets a lemon that they paid a regular used car price for. I’m sure every one of those SS’s get well beaten at just about ever traffic light and stop sign. Both very hard acceleration & Braking. If everyone does that to a performance car a test drive it’s probably amplified a lot more on a rental.
