I would use the dirty, dust-causing oem pads. I have 8700 miles on car, and my rotors are just burnished, no grooves whatsoever, and I can tell they aren't warped at all, or have any other significant wear by the reflection.
Have heard that harder pads can really butcher the rotors depending on the road conditions. Most shops I've been to, the rotor lathes leave something to be desired anyhow. ********* Wife has a caddy srx, and last year, she and her sister spilled something in the back where the liftback power module is (took her several months to admit it!) Anyhow, there is another control module under the cover, and water got in there, and shorted it out. Module cost ~$380, but the shop where I usually take my rides didn't know how to code the replacement to the car. Had to take it down to the dealer, and they were gonna whack me better part of $200 to do it. I pressed him pretty vocally what I thought of his pricing, and he came out that they have overhead to pay for. I could see his point, probably there's 12 bays where the mechanics work. Took 20 minutes to code it, do the paperwork, and get me back to the counter to pay. Only thing I -REALLY- don't like, they won't allow me in to watch them work, or ask questions. Where I usually get my stuff done, they allow me in, and i can ask /look at anything I want; and help out by being a 3rd hand. 2 hours there, can cost as little as $50, depending on what I have them do. They also tried to install the control module, but just weren't aware of exactly what they had to do. But they had that part figured out, and didn't charge me a dime for taking a look at it. So there's shops who are really decent, with really upstanding ethics, and there's others who will stick it to you. If you find a decent shop, best realize how fortunate you are! (it's really nice to be able to -WALK- under your car!!! |

As far as brakes are concerned, is the general norm for this cars to just resurface them? On my 99 Z28, they were prone to warping so I always just replaced them. Is that the case with the 6th Gen?
