Hey Mike,
I Just purchased a new 19 1ss with standard shocks on Jeff wong's recommendation. probably getting his shocks next season. I am looking for any sort of setup suggestions. What bar and alignment were you using in FS? I assume you were running square 275's? Moving out of GS after 3 years of trophies to something a little more fun again, and from what I have heard you going back to another camaro, and me missing my old c5z I got into a new camaro and pretty much had to have one. I am planning on bringing the american muscle fight back to FS. |

Have you guys seen what Ford did for their DS 20 Mustang? An optional performance motor and a racy handling package with square 9.5s. They even claim it was spec'd with autoX in mind. Too bad Chevy didn't follow suit. I think the Camaro is some lighter still.

IIRC, Scroggs stated once the 1LE was not a significant improvement over his car. Don't know who could have a more valid opinion than him. But that was a while ago.
Is there current national evidence that the T/1LE is a competitive car for the class? I don't know who could have a more valid opinion of that than you. |

Having not driven a turbo 1LE i cant say. I forgot about Scroggs test of both. This mustang could be an improvement over the other ecoboost but ill say this. The Type R will be very hard to beat. The problem is while the turbo pony cars are lighter and more nimble they still have v8 dimensions. Having driven a type r for a year.. its skinny, its numble, it puts power down, it rotates and its brakes! OMG ITS BRAKES!! They are amazing.

Can't tell you how happy I am to see some action in this thread.
I run a 4T/1LE in DS in the Detroit Region. I don't have the seat time or experience to be competitive and really only ran a couple times last year with the car completely bone stock. (20" factory wheels with run-flats on factory alignment) That said I'm looking into making some minor upgrades this season with wheels and tires at the top of the list. I believe most of the non-1LE T4 guys are running 275 square on 18"x8" but since the 1-LE comes with SS-sized wheels I'm assuming the move would be to mimic what the SS guys are doing in FS. Suggestions? 275 RE71Rs on 19"x8.5" and 19"x9.5" wheels? Any benefit to going 285 on the 9.5" rears? Any recommendations on offsets? |

I'd stick with 275s. They were faster than 285s on the S550 in FS in 2015 using same size rears putting down more torque on a worse chassis.

Personally if i had a turbo id be running 265/275. I tested them on my v8 and I loved the turn in feel on the 265. but with the added weight of the v8 they just didnt have the grip. less weight over the nose more tire isnt always best. but thats just me. On the type r i ran a 275 square. some people were up to 285s. for me the 275 was the perfect blend of response and grip.

-I would think a possible reason the 4T 1LE might not be a great autoX step forward would be not upgrading front wheel width. We know one of the fastest Cam-C cars is the 4T with all the factory bolt-ons from the GM Performance guys.
I wonder if a 4T non-1LE would make a good and affordable regional Cam-C car with just 11's and 305s all around and suitable springs, shocks and bars? |

hah it has a little more than factory bolt ons. Now they had to use OE parts but that anitlag they had on the car was going through a FACTORY turbo each event. Simpleish turbo upgrade should help that! Before ordering my v8 1LE i thought about getting a 4T 1LE... but i couldn't pass up the chance to get the car i wanted!
