Which brand of pistons did you use?

Are you still on this motor?
How much WHP are you seeing and what kind of boost levels?
He said the weight was the same.

I used the forged pistons from Ted Jannetty (JRE Racing). The were properly gapped and dropped in...nothing else.

We are tuning now and we hit a little snag, but I just got it fixed and sent updated logs to Ted. Can’t wait to get the next step. The car is running beautifully right now.

We should end up at about 750whp on 11 psi which is really the end of the line for me (850+ HP to the crank). We are going through the tune on 9psi now (should be around 700whp). Most likely we will add a tune for race fuel specifically for the track days. Race fuel should put us in the 820-850whp range.

I haven’t gotten the wheels and tires yet. Most likely I will get a set of 17in wheels with MT’s...or, if there is a 305 Mt option (for my current wheels), I will go that way and use them for street driving too. Paul at PK Autodesign really helped out with the choices for the wheels in the car...he was first class. He’s already given me some really great quotes.

Sound really good

Which brand of Pistons is Ted providing? Fact that they are indeed the exact same bob-weight as the stock ones is excellent.

Is Ted himself tuning? I believe that 11psi is a perfect and safe boost level for such WHP goal.

Ted has wisco pistons. He also has piston/rod combos; I'm not sure of the details on those. Ted is also his own worst enemy when it comes to selling these items. He almost refuses to sell you stuff that he thinks uou don't need. He is very confident that the stock pistons will hold up. That speaks volumes to me considering the amount of experience he has with this platform.

I think I bought the pistons before he had the combo set available, otherwise that’s what I would have gone with. In fact, I almost tried to have him overnight the rods, but the guys had already dropped the motor and were getting things installed.

At this point, we will see how things go, but I may end up adding rods and a few other things over the winter.

Hey Drsag, did you just break down your heads and reassemble with the new springs? Ted says this is usually all that is required i.e. valve lapping or shimming to achieve proper spring height is usually not required. I received my cam kit and voltage booster from ted last friday but do not plan on installing for a while, going to enjoy the car for the next couple of months while the weather is nice.

I can ask, but I didn’t actually see that part. I was traveling and by the time Ingot back to the garage, they had the pistons installed.

Tune pretty much complete. Will dyno soon, then bump from 8 to 10 psi.
