sure, just like the check engine light checks your engine. open your gas cap and the check engine light goes off. does it tell you if the water pump is bad. in the 90's calif banned the 6 speed toyota tercel. why, better gas mileage. its all about pollution

CAGS affects fuel economy, which obviously affects emissions. More revs equals more gas burned and more dirty junk out the exhaust - both of which EPA finds objectionable.
Technically, Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards are regulated and enforced by NHTSA, and the EPA calculates CAFE and Greenhouse Gas emission levels for manufacturers. Starting in 2010, both agencies began issuing joint regulations. |

I never had the skip shift work in my car. I got a 2018 1LE brand new and it never worked since I drove it off the lot. I get the message to shift to fourth but it never forced me. I can shift to 2nd even while the notification comes up. I don't want it to work but I found it weird it doesn't.

If you don’t try to shift from first to second until you get to about 1,800-1,900 rpm, you’ll bypass the system.

So I bought a SSE off Amazon made by Muzzys. I'm not sure if the TR6060 needs a different SEE than the T56 but I get random CELs now. I've unplugged and replugged it in to ensure a good connection.
Is there a specific SSE I should use for the TR6060? Does the 1LE need a specific SSE?

I do think the 1>4 shift works fine in slow moving traffic though. |

I have been working around this on my 2018, but I will say I have bought an eliminator that I will be installing ASAP. The clip on my trans is facing upward for some reason, so I will need to have my car on a lift to install it. The breaking point for me was when I was picking up my son from school. I was waiting to turn left across a 4 lane split highway separated by a median. The traffic was open on my left so I slowly pulled out to the middle to catch a gap in the traffic going the direction I was heading. As I turned left and started to pull into traffic I was locked out of 2 and 3, so I was basically coasting across both lanes trying to get the car into 2nd, with upcoming highway speed traffic. It's hard to retrain the brain to either ride 1st longer than you typically do and there is really no way for me to train myself to go from 1-4. If I had done so, I would have probably been rear ended trying to accelerate in 4th at 1200 rpm up to 55-65 mph. I absolutely hate this feature on the car as it seems to get me mostly when I am pulling out into traffic.

I do 1-3 most times. Not as bad as 1-4 and the lockout is only really meant to not allow you to slide into 2nd

2021 Camaro Skip shift eliminator did not fit
I ordered a Skip Shift, used a screw driver to pull the plug successfully. Plugged in the eliminator male end into the tranny. Female end is different and the harness does not fit! Had to return it. Shame.
Funny how the seller doesn't check the male and female ends need to be the same plug. |

The irony of 1-4 technology/design/implementation is that it can cause an "engine lug" situation, which GM advises against in Camaro owner manuals, as possibly "being harmful" to the engine. Last edited by LT1gen6; 09-30-2022 at 09:15 AM. |
