I think this has some merit...some will whine if the auto is matched. Especially if it came out with a better time.

Having said that, I would dig seeing Ford drop their version of the A10 into the 350 at some point & see what it does.

I think they are both amazing cars in their own right & hope from the perceived hints that Randy is not already to one side & at least comes across as impartial. Should be fun regardless.

The ZL1 has in my opinion a better suspension and obviously more power. But the cabins are eons apart and Mustang is very airy and open and visible and Zl1 you feel as if you're looking out of a tank through a slit.
I would love to hear your comparison between the 2 cars. My original plan was to get a ZL1 but I couldn't wait any longer and pulled the trigger on a GT350 Track Pack last year at MSRP. This is my 1st Mustang ever and it's been absolutely sublime. Hard to imagine a driving experience like the 350 at anywhere near the price.

It should have been 1LE vs GT350. ZL1 vs GT350R isn't an equal comparison.

I think you need to compare street price....street price of an R is going to be on par with a fully loaded Z06.

The GT350 is not a car I regret owning. I have to drive the zl1 a bit more to explain the differences. I drove her home in a rain storm and it has 20 miles to date so I will definitely update you. One thing is the low end power is immediate. Also I do t have the track pack on my Shelby so the magnetic shocks were a jaw dropper as the suspension is amazing on the zl1. The voodoo revs to the moon obviously and I love it. People who say it's soft on bottom end don't own one. I love the GT350 immensely. I will never sell the zl1 either so hey both have permenant home as long as I'm around.

As it should be! But I'm still holding out hope that they will also include 1LE vs. GT350, would make for an epic episode!

I'm not considering price. The GT350R and ZL1 are different categories of cars. The ZL1 will probably win in most categories. The SS 1LE and GT350 would actually be closer in performance.

What is the 'sticker' on the GT350 & Gt350R??

I went and looked at them, but don't recall...when the Ford dealers mentioned both had ADM, I really didn't go ny further.

Just assumed both were comparable to the ZL1 & 1Le version.

What's the point of comparing a unicorn GT350R to the regular ZL1. Either use a GT350 or wait for the ZL1 1LE.

GT350R has a street price near 6 figures. It is a forgone conclusion it will win.

I don't know if I would crown it just yet.

I completely agree that it's a tough comparison. But the MSRP prices do match up better, but with only so few made, they hardly exist.

I paid $61K out the door last year on my track pack with tax, title, and registration. My sticker was something like $57K. My brother picked up a used R earlier this year with less than 1K miles for $83K.

You aren't going to walk into a Ford dealer and expect to pay sticker on a 350, unfortunately. You have to do your due diligence.

But totally different feels and experiences.
Correct, I enjoy my base GT w/3.55:1 and have BMR suspension parts to upgrade the front & rear subframes. Intake "tube" and X-pipe help as well. I run through the coastal bend and haven't found a Zl1 to run with, only an rs gen 5. The day I get to enjoy the chicanes & S-curves with an SS will be Epic!
Will continue to "run thru the twisty's" seeking, I need better rubber and wider wheels to go any faster, he he!
