JL is nice stuff. I have a full jl system in my Ram. Sounds amazing and for subs I just went with the the jl stealth box with their new shallow dual 10's. I'll just wait for the stealth box for the Camaro and add that. Then it'll be good enough. I think sound dreading would benefit the Camaro the most. Camaro will be a rattle box with a sub if nothing else done.

I have a 2SS and the Bose sound system installed is okay for a premium factory sound. My 2012 Subaru has a premium HK factory installed system and it blows away my Camaro's Bose system. Driving and performance are another story

I also think the stereo system rocks also. Love it and so does my 14 old son!

Have the 2SS with Bose. I think it sounds great! I have it faded to the rear no more than 2 clicks. I have bass like three from max and treble all the way up.

2SS Bose speaker system
After owning a 2013 1SS with the Boston Accoustic speaker stock setup, the Bose system in my 2016 is mega! The difference is striking. The 2SS comes stock with the 9 speaker system and the convertible has 7 speakers. The old school way so distributing sound is to have separate mids and tweeters handled by smaller speakers and the bass by larger woofers. The more modern method is sound distribution is to have most of the speakers tuned to handle full range in a more spread out way. Bose has ALWAYS been the experts at doing this and has really come thru for Chevy by tuning the system to match the cars' interior space.
This system is not the loudest one you'll come across, but the quality is great. I was surprised at how much bottom is cleanly handled and the mids and highs are very well done. I've always wanted to add least add woofers to the stock set up before I heard this system. I am a sound recording engineer by trade with decades of experience and quality has always been more important than quantity and I have no intention of changing anything about the Bose setup in my car. In fact, I've always taking my mixes from the studio out to the car to check for balance and quality from the consumer side of things and this car will satisfy you needs as long as you are not looking to shake the fillings out of your teeth!

I don't know if it is the amp or the speakers, or both, but the sound is very colored, and not flat at all.

Based on the upgrade threads I have been reading here, it appears there is no full range signal going to any speaker. Eventually I will play some tests tones and see if I can ballpark how Bose is splitting the frequencies among drivers. |

No, I didn't. I built the system as one unit with the components attached so I could remove it quickly and easily. All I have is the battery power and then the factory harness in and out of the factory amp with spade connectors so if I remove it I can just plug the harnesses in and back to stock.
Probably 25 pounds. |

I was not implying that the sound is not colored, ALL car systems are colored in one way or another. The average consumer would not like the sound of a system that is not skewed somewhat. My studio environment is made to be flat and accurate. I was saying that the sound of the Bose system in my car is a very pleasant one and is done pretty tastefully especially for the consumer. Audiophiles have another thing they are looking for altogether. As for me, I do enjoy what the sound of the system sounds like in my car and I think others will too - especially if they heard the sound of the Boston Acoustics system in the Gen5 cars! Yuck!
