Sounds a lot like what I hear at work from the one GTI guy and this BMW guy that couldn't keep up with my Gen5 2LS thinks he can keep up with my new I4 and is talking smack thinking he can beat me in my new I4. Might be a slightly closer race at launch then my Gen5 but he has zero idea how to launch a car to hit top end in the 1/4 mile he's a peddle masher. Can't wait for the next IFO at the local dragway.

Many people like to still claim to the belief that the car is only fast in a straight line.

Even after explaining I've gotten a 3.9 0-60 recorded and the auto is generally quicker than the manual, he still insists I'm crazy if I believe my camaro SS is quicker than his bmw 2 series (rated at a 0-60 of 5.8 seconds).

Has anyone else had ridiculous claims by people about your camaro or its performance capability?
Be prepared to not be taken seriously when you buy a high performance car and choose a torque convertor automatic transmission over a manual. I know it sucks but that is how the automotive hierarchy works when you get suckered into a pee pee contest with a douche bag know it all.

BTW...The A8 is not faster than the M6. There are a lot of sub 4 second 0-60 videos in 2016 M6 Camaros. It's just takes a lot more skill to be quick in a manual transmission car.

I believe the average driver is faster with an auto than a manual and I believe automatics are just going to keep getting better and soon manual will be slower at the strip and track and getting worse gas milage.
That being said, I'll never drive an auto unless medically necessary and I never look at a person that calls themselves a car enthusiast the same after discovering that they drive an automatic.
I love my car handling well, accelerating well...but it is a means to the end which is enjoying the driving experience.

+1!!! Couldn't have said it better myself. I would still take my 6Manual SS if it were 2 seconds slower in 0-60, because you can't replace the feeling of the clutch and the connection it gives you to the car. I would need to lose my left leg to not drive a car with 3 pedals.

When you let off the accelerator of an A8 car after a 5000 rpm burst and discover competition mode for the first time is pretty fun. Holds 4000 rpm downshifts so when you jump on it again your head snaps back. And the speed it cracks off those shifts. Exilerating!

I'm 53 and alway had manual shift. Great time to open up to a new experience.

I get shit everytime I get behind the wheel and go anywhere. Either guys assume I have no idea what kind of power I'm sitting on, or that I can't possibly know how to actually utilize it to it's fullest, or both.

I'll be driving normal, some asshat will notice it's a woman behind the wheel and turn aggressive in the blink of an eye. Either rev it up at a light or crawl up my ass on the road. I've taken them all and will continue to embarass any twat that tries me. My husband thought I was exagerating when I'd tell him it happens daily, not anymore. He's been in the passenger seat and seen it first hand too many times now. He's actually quite jealous, no one ever tries when he's driving.

I've had so many guys in the most laughably nutless cars try to take me at lights, I can't imagine what they're thinking. Dude, you're driving a Civic, why do you want to embarass yourself like that?

Ok, so maybe I like it. So many excuses to drive my car the way it begs to be driven.

I know it is sexIst, but I automatically give girls more props than I do guys for having a camaro.

Agreed. Performance shift mode is awesome! Makes me miss the manual that much less.

I live a little south of you in Danville and I notice the same thing, I don't know what it is but if it's a Nissan they think they rule the road. Quite a bit of V6 Mustangs too who think they're unstoppable, and many of them are the older ones rusted out and falling apart hahaaa.

I know what you mean. I rarely ever get challenged by another muscle car but mini vans and rice burners seem to always want to race. I'm thinking "Dude, if I threw a rod I could still take you. Buzz off."

Nothing makes me laugh more than when a straight piped v6 mustang revs me up and the guys are sitting in there thinking the are the coolest things ever, and then just get left in some tire smoke and they always habe that look of disbelief on their faces

I've got a V6 automatic mustang owner in my office who's answer to everything is "because flat-plane crank".

It's a new era and the Automatic is no longer any type of joke.
What's worse is people that get on a soap box about the superiority of the automatic that never experienced what it's actually like to drive a stick, or understand what it enables you to do. 0-60 numbers are designed to sell cars to the masses of non car guys (who think they're car guys) and don't translate directly into real world driving situations.
