If also like to see some evidence that the 1LE will be as close in performance to the GT350TP. Similar weight, same size tires, probably similar magride suspension set up but with nearly 100 more HP and an 8K+ redline. I know GM has some really great chassis engineers but I think it may be a bit optimistic to think that they're that much better than Ford's.
Redline doesn't matter, but horsepower sure may.

Here is a direct quote from Al O on the subject of 1LE vs. GT350. He strongly implies the 1LE will exceed the GT350:

During our time to chat with Al Oppenheiser, chief Camaro engineer, we got right down to business and asked what everyone wants to know: will the 2017 Camaro SS 1LE outperform the Shelby GT350?

“That’s obviously our intent. I have the answer, but I’ll let the rest of you decide how we did. Our goal is to up the game with our competitor, just like they upped the game with the GT350. Everyone had to expect we would punch back. I will tell you this car is three seconds faster than the previous 1LE. Your readers can go out and make their own conclusions,” Oppenheiser stated in utmost confidence.

Also given that the SS already matches the GT350 in acceleration on the standard run-flats its not much of a stretch to believe the 1LE will beat it in the 1/4 mile given the improved launch the better tires will provide.

So.....GM doesn't provide concrete performance numbers for the 1LE (X.XX around XYZ track)..and it's okay..

Ford doesn't provide concrete performance numbers for the GT350 and it's stupid?

Am I reading the trend here correctly?

1LE is 6 months away or so from release, right? From what I recall, GT350 was being driven home by owners and track results weren't out. Not that I care either way, but pretty sure that's the truth.

Don't recall GM saying the 1LE is faster than X car around a track. Ford has made several statements about the GT350 compared to competitors that have not turned out to be true.

I shouldn't say untrue but more like unverified, like times comparable to a GT3, within of hundredths of a Z51. The over a second faster than a Z/28 holds true at 1.16 seconds from the MT tests.

The point I was trying to make is it's not a good idea to make claims against cars they will never be matched up against. It just becomes hearsay like street racing or private owner times. GM makes claims based on it compared to their previous car. Not seeing why that is an issue since they are going after previous 1LE owners. And the 1LE is a proven performer with same day/driver track comparisons.

lol

I love your bias against members of this site sometimes. Yes, we deserve it at times, and others not. I'd just really love to know if you hold the guys in the Ford camp to the same standard.

Anyways....GM has done a great job of giving us good numbers for their performance cars as of late.....how about we give this one more time and see how it shakes out. If the car hits the streets and we still have nothing from GM, then you can talk.

They did say 3 seconds faster than the prior 1LE on their track. But no comparisons to other cars yet.

I do, I call out people all the time on SVT which is the only Mustang site I'm a member of.

I've less need to call people out on the LXForums and such because generally Mopar guys tend to be more laid back..except for the Douchecats (puffed up Hellcat owners)

The LXforums (and most Dodge forums) are definitely a different environment. There's more arguments between fellow owners (Hellcat snobs, SRT snobs, why did you put that on your car? types) than anything. At the same time there's very little actually going on there. It's honestly a big negative to buying a Charger/Challenger, there's not really much a community to share with.

Biggest issue I have with the Mopar community is they are known as the "ricers" of the American Muscle scene. They are the number one perpetrators of stickers, head light rings, under car lighting, adding 25 emblems, just a lot of questionable taste. There is like a 200 page Mopar Rice thread on a Mustang forum...at first I didn't notice it, but after reading about it on forums I've noticed it at meets and shows myself.
