Projection is CarPlay. It just boots the software for it. But if there's a way to add front cameras, maybe there's a way to simply give a video input mode.

Who the hell wants to watch Netflix on their small car screen while driving?

That's insane......

Guess I'm getting old.....I like to drive and enjoy the car and sites while driving...not looking at my dash...... lol

I'm with you. And if the passenger wants to watch video, they can use their phone or tablet.

Well it kind of depends.

If you think you can take your Camaro in and have your front camera repaired under warranty, that's not likely to happen

If you are hacking the PCM and you have an issue with your powertrain then yes, your powertrain warranty will be voided.

Any powertrain warranty repair requires a snapshot of the module be sent to GM for approval. If you've modified it, it shows and you will no longer have a powertrain warranty. No ifs ands or butts. And MM does not apply as it is GM's stated LIMITED Powertrain Warranty. MM does not require a company to do any more than honor it's warranty. And no, being cool with your Service Manager doesn't help unless they want to pay for your warranty out of pocket, which won't happen.

But there is more than one module in the car so if you are hacking your radio, then probably not something a GM dealership would catch.

So PCM hack, out of luck.

Also keep in mind for a new launch like the Camaro, 100% of parts go back to GM for review. Each part is scrutinized for why it failed. In some cases, the dealer will be questioned for replacing a perfectly good part. But generally that has not lead back to a customer that I know of.

BCM hack, not sure GM requires any investigation on that front. So TBD.

Is it just me, or doesn't anyone else seem concerned that people are able to hack into a car's computer? Am I missing something here?

It's stories like this, that I read, that makes me want to go back to buying muscle cars of yesterday, that are easier to fix and don't have computers that can be hacked.

I'll keep following these type of stories, but the future doesn't look bright...OR SAFE for that matter.

Hacking is probably not the right word. More like developer access to the software.

You could "hack" most muscle cars of yester-year with a screwdriver by the way. Can't count the number of times I started a car without a key, defeated a steering wheel lock, or got into a car without a key.
