There will be a glut of 5th gen cars traded in so I wouldn't expect they are going to be giving acceptable trade in values for those cars. Not saying they aren't worth the money, especially the optioned low mileage cars. I really like the 2014-2015 Camaro visually but the 6th gen is going to be lighter and better.
As far as the GM Employee pricing goes I just used my Employee discount for my son on his new Colorado. They will want to fill the dealers orders before they start discounting though.

Depends on the model/options, etc. Your buddy's dad best keep that car for 6 months before you get the title to it, or your buddy's dad can get in some serious doo-doo with GM for doing something stupid like that. Unless he's getting you the supplier discount. I'm betting that's what he's doing.

For example, I'm looking at a 2014 CTS Sedan for the wife. Approx 10% off MSRP plus $8K cash back, saving almost 15 grand. But a 2014 Camaro SS? $3K cash back. Total about $5700 employee price for a 2014 2SS Coupe with no options.

SUPPLIER PRICE
2014 Chevrolet Camaro
Style: 2dr Car, Rear Wheel Drive
Trim: 2dr Cpe SS w/2SS
MSRP as Configured$38,150.00
GM Supplier Discount Price$36,863.81
Consumer Cash-$3,000.00
You Pay $33,863.81

EMPLOYEE PRICE
2014 Chevrolet Camaro
Style: 2dr Car, Rear Wheel Drive
Trim: 2dr Cpe SS w/2SS
MSRP as Configured$38,150.00
GM Employee Discount Price$35,437.06
Consumer Cash-$3,000.00
You Pay $32,437.06

And Z/28? Just for fun, let's see....

EMPLOYEE PRICE
2014 Chevrolet Camaro
Style: 2dr Car, Rear Wheel Drive
Trim: 2dr Cpe Z/28
MSRP as Configured$75,000.00
GM Employee Discount Price Not Eligible for Discount
Consumer Cash-$4,000.00
You Pay Not Eligible for Discount

Let's do a 2015 Z06 for fun:

EMPLOYEE PRICE
2015 Chevrolet Corvette
Style: 2dr Car, Rear Wheel Drive
Trim: Coupe Z06 3LZ
MSRP as Configured$88,645.00
GM Employee Discount Price Not Eligible for Discount
Consumer Cash-$0.00
You Pay Not Eligible for Discount

Basically, the Z/28 nor the 2015 Z06 still isn't available for GM employee discounts. THIS IS FROM GM'S WEBSITE, so anyone who says they got an employee discount in the SE region on a Z/28 is not being truthful. Dealer incentives aren't included, so that's a whole 'nuther ball game.

Also, they RECORD who uses the number, periodically AUDIT those transactions, and if your buddy's dad's name isn't on the title somewhere...they could strip him of that privilege and make him pay back the difference. That's a dark road nobody should have to go down. Of course, if your buddy's dad is an upper management type, they sometimes get the perk of getting employee pricing for non-related people.

GM reserves the right to suspend GM employee pricing on new models and/or on ANY models they deem necessary. Usually in a couple or few months after production starts to build up some inventory, they'll unleash the pricing.

In some cases, like the 2002 Camaro 35th LE, GM basically said GM Employee pricing would not be accepted for that car when they were doing everything they could to sell 2002 Camaros, and I don't know if they ever did come off of that stance.

Been using GM Employee discounts for YEARS since my dad retired from Corvette. I know the program well. But since my dad died, I thought that perk went away too. But now I joined again through the legacy program, and my employee pricing has been restored.

Just an FYI Gm Execs can give out "GEX" codes that are the same as GMS numbers. the customer must have a non gm vehicle in the household though.

GSU= friends, cousins, suppliers. pretty much anyone. I can give supplier numbers.

GMS= employees, Supplier of the year businesses, and exec codes

That it why it is important to live in the same neighborhood as most GM executives. Of course, my thought is if I could afford the neighborhood and the Ferrari daily driver I might not need the exec discount. On the other hand, given all that, it would be a good for GM marketing each time it happened.

OK...so call me a happy camper right now, as I just checked with the credit union my wife belongs to (well...now WE belong to) and they offer a GM discount and it looks like it is supplier pricing. Yay!

So keep us up to date if you guys hear anything about it being offered or not right from the start.

So now looks like I need to contact my dealer and see if they honor this sort of thing...is that right??

Also...

What is the consumer cash? I went to the credit union site, and currently there is $1000 in consumer cash listed for a 2015 Camaro SS, but when I built a 2015 Colorado for fun, there was no consumer cash listed.

Is this amount at the discretion of GM, and does it change randomly?

Consumer cash is a rebate to the customer from manufacturer, which would typically be applied to the price of the car.

I'm guessing there is about a zero chance of this being applied on the 2016 early on.

I'm going to have to try and nab a GM private offer lol. (assuming they would even accept it)

What? No supplier discounts? That's ok, they'll eventually come out, I can't wait to get one I'll be in the market but I want the 1le or whatever the performance version will be. I want to get one right off the bat like everyone else, but I know that a year from release they'll be writing an article in motor trend about the new performance package and how great it is and I'll hate myself for not having waited!
I work for the railroad and have yet to use my discount, but I'm dying to use it and this will be the perfect time!

Trying to find a dealer in AZ that will accept Supplier pricing on the 2016 verts.

Van Chevrolet in Scottsdale said they would be in high demand, that is also what they said in 2009.

Autonation in Superstition Springs agreed to offer Supplier pricing (bought from them previously).

Not available for now and likely will not be available for some time after the start of regular production. Also it seems it is more difficult to get if one uses a dealer whose store is west of the continental divide.

If you are doing a pre-order and your dealer is inclined to negotiate just have words to the effect of "program pricing if available or $X (say $1000) over dealer price as shown on the Invoice."

So yesterday afternoon my sales guy sends me an email.

"Just wanted you to know that the dates may be getting pushed back".

That's all he says. Dates for what? Production, ordering, pricing????

Left a message with him yesterday but haven't heard back from him. Been home sick today. I may try him again tomorrow.

Anyone have a clue on what, if anything this could mean?
