Ford made a good choice my switching to a H design mid pipe in 2011 over the previous X on the rear mounted muffler 05+. C&D did a name that tone video and the 2011 GT500 blew the 2010 away in its exhaust note.

The Coyote's Ti-VCT (V-tec) is probably another reason why some like the exhaust note. Tuners and even make it sound like it has a wicked cam swap all with a few strokes of the keyboard, which I think is pretty cool. I guess Ford thought there's no harm in giving its Mustang GT owners an aggressive exhaust note, I mean its a 420hp Mustang GT and not a Taurus.

Mustangs have had H pipes for quite some time. My 07 GT had a H pipe stock, as did my 04 GT. Mustang stock exhaust is a H pipe

I think he's talking about the sound outside. The GT500s don't have the sound piping to the interior.

The engine and the exhaust are like a musical instrument. The flow of air through the system is what determines the sound. When starting with a woodwind reed, there is no way you are going to get the same sound as a brass instrument regardless of how it is ducted. So it all depends on whether you like a sax or a trumpet.

Ford takes the sound of the car very seriously. I think I have it in the book that came in the owner's kit for my Boss about how they take the time to tune the exhaust note. I do know that the Boss 302 system is right up to the 80dB limit the feds allow.

When I saw the '14 1LE last week, and drove the new C7 Vette this week, I was impressed with the sound of both cars.

All 3 cars sound great! I know.... I test drove a 1LE w/ the NPP a few weeks ago and it sounds awesome - deep musclecar rumble. My Boss sounds like an angry tiger with the side discs removed- loves to growl! And the Stingray is pure aural bliss.

My SS 45th withthe L99 is still very much subdued since it's all stock... amost like you're in a library. I don't mind, it's a DD after all.

SO true

Well I asked the same thing, and my mom told me its because the camaro is more classy than all loud. Which makes sense, the camaro does not even look right being loud. So, If you want a loud car, do like I did and go buy both. I got a brand new camaro and a used 2012 mustang gt for the sound. My daily is the v6 camaro. SS stock exhaust was low, It was just a waste.

My buddy has a 2011 5.0. He put a MBRP catback on it and man it sounds good! I'm waiting on the stainless works retro with the quad tips for my car. Can't wait to get it swapped out as the dual mode exhaust wasn't loud enough for me. Should be here Thursday and the wait is killing me!

Not always. I have always wondered why some sound good and some are quiet. I have heard a GT500 pull into a streetmeet and was so quiet that I thought it was a V6 posser. Even the old 5,0 sound different. It seemed like the gt's had a different sound.
