Came here to laugh at this quote. And as far as the A10 goes, I would have thought about it... Its a pretty bitchen piece of technology. I like the added "complexity" that it takes to drive a manual fast though. Hard to explain but I will tell you there is no better feeling in the world than flat foot shifting a manual at 7k and just ripping off second and third gear, just letting it all hang out. Its what makes all the money and time worth it for me.

One positive about a manual only model for the sports car consumer (us) is that it keeps the dealer from ordering mostly automatics. I have shopped Corvettes and it is common for most on the lot to be automatics. Dealers have to sell and if automatics are what most people want then they order what sells. My dealer had just one 1LE in stock when I bought it. The stock inventory was one car, the odds would've been that it would been an automatic not manual.

Nothing against the A10 but the 1LE to me is a manual only type of car. Now a 1SS/2SS/ZL1 then yes the A10 probably. But the 1LE is just that special little niche of a car that should only be a manual in my opinion.

Auto trans are appropriate for pick ups, rental cars, and Buicks.

But as for your comment, I'd take a GNX, Grand National or T-Type Turbo anyday, automatic or not. |

Well the only reason I'm not getting a 1LE is because it is manual only. The car I'm buying will be my daily driver and I don't want a manual with the traffic I drive in. I do however love the appearance and performance upgrades and would have loved to track a 1LE every once in a while.

No. But had I been able to buy a 6th gen ZL1, yes. A ZL1 1LE, no. Now, if I should hit the jackpot in the lottery, I'm going to need a warehouse for all the variants of Camaro I truly desire, and Cadillac V-series, and Corvettes, Ferrari 488, Silverados, ZR2, trailers...lol, etc. ;-)

If I could afford to track a car 10 times a year like some people do, then yes, M6 all the way. No other choice needed.
But for guys like me who only go to the track a few times a year and deal with crazy traffic, I think the A10 1LE could be a good compromise. I did make the mistake of buying an SS A8 and I felt like it was a mistake. It was ok for mountain drives and some trackdays , but I think M6 would be much better for track and fast mountain driving. The A10 is supposed to be better than the A8, so maybe it would close the gap with the M6. Id probably take a chance with an A10 1LE if they made it. The A10 might make the the SS quicker 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile too. Last edited by NCSD; 10-08-2017 at 02:45 PM. |

Not until it can match my PDK...which will probably be never. Torque converters are not made for the track, sure they can be fitted to work there, but they are still not designed for it.

Interesting responses!
Actually surprised with the amount of "No" I would imagine the average age here is 35. No? |

For road course, I'd prefer to stay with the M6, but I do not drag race being a manual given all the problems launching effectively. I suppose with an A10, I'd be more likely to race both venues.
