Keep in mind that the chassis is completely new; and that the 2016 V6 not only weighs quite a bit less but also has more hp/tq. I haven't driven a gen 5 but, I can't imagine the changes aren't noticeable.

That said you are absolutely right about the 2LT vs 1SS price. If having the V8 was the most important thing I could have gotten a 1ss for the same price and one with mag ride for $1500 more.

Similarly, a loaded V6 is going to have a rather large depreciation hit vs the v8.

I have been trying to make decisions based on "feelings" instead of numbers , which means I will not say a car is fast by looking at its horsepower numbers of power to weight ratio, instead, I will try to let my body tell me which is a fast car (as long as it can merge into highway without too much effort) Test drove mustangs as well as v6 and v8 camaros.

Based on numbers the ecoboost shall be faster than v6 mustangs but I felt the v6 to be faster so in my mind, v6 is in a higher class than the ecoboost. Also, based on my experience, the extra weight of v8 make the car feel a bit heavy and clumsy handling wise. Anyway, I just wanna say that we shouldn't be so fed up with all the numbers and theoretical stuff, we should sometimes let the feelings take control as that's what drivings are all about.

I pray you are saying you sat in a different v8 and not the camaro SS v8. Nothing about this car says heavy and clumsy... sorry you must have been in a different car.

For both my wife & I it's the sound of the V8 that is intoxicating making it a must have. Both our daily drivers are 400+hp V8s. We've owned every gen of Camaro & I see a gen6 SS in our future. I see nothing wrong with a V6 or even an I4 Camaro.

I think GM needs to offer the twin turbo V6 in the Camaro but I will still get the V8 even if it was slower.

The RS with a V6 is nice. Plenty of power for the average driver just like the V6 Mustang. However, IMO the LT1 V8 is the only way to go. No doubt the RS V6 is less expensive and if cost is the biggest issue then go with the RS. Otherwise you gotta check out the LS1.

I am only gonna test a v6 to see how it it feels compared to my 13 SS. I know it wont be as quick, but if its not terrible, I will probably opt for the v6. My car has never hit the track, so a v8 is not a must. Sure I have fun with it on the street, but that is a ticket/accident waiting to happen. I am sure I will miss the v8 torque though. I guess I will see how the test drive goes.

The SS has already been into the really low 12's and one member went 11.90 on stock tires. I think the V6 will hold its own and in early testing is supposed to run around the 14 second mark. I'm guessing it will be faster then tested if the SS is any indicator with the new A8 and we'll probably see some 13.90's or faster with the right air and altitude. My bone stock 2008 g8gt with a rated 361hp ran just 13.80, it was heavier by a bunch, the V6 at 336 and 700 lbs less may just get there.

I'm not saying v8 is clumsy or heavy, it's just that when comparing the v6 and he v8 version of the same car, the v8 just feels a bit more heavy... It might not be an accurate feeling as its a subjective feeling.

just finished test driving a V6 RS with dual mode exhaust and it sounds absolutely amazing, in sport mode I barely pressed on the accelerator pedal going at 16 mph the car was already SCREAMING and it was absolutely amazing. I think if you're gonna get the LT you won't be disappointed with it if you like exhaust but for me dual mode is a MUST! I'm so impressed, this V6 sounds way better than the Mustang Gt!!!!
